The skin is good as ever. They were serving kuehs here before the rebranding as Kueh garden? Anyway the coconut filling was really moist, but as u can tell from the colour the gula melaka isn't strong.

Quite pricey. The centre was chewy and sticky, honestly idk if it's Yam at all lol save for the colour. It's expensive apparently because of the nuts inside. Pastry itself was not that good

Probably the worst I've tasted. The filling got this starchiness, like it wasn't processed enough. Skin also had some unpleasant stickiness. Steer clear of this

PS their store is really ....
There's no label or price for the items on display, and there's no menu in the store(because not everything is available everyday). There's an online menu but that has no ingredients list, so pretty stumped by those funny names like golden jade

Was going around Chinese Gardens recently and chanced upon this Tau Sar Pau at a neighbourhood bakery named WonderYam Confectionery which seems oddly similar to the one sold at Forty Hands at least in its aesthetics (which is one of my favourite “atas” renditions of the timeless classic) — the poster outside the shop claiming that is twice the size of typical Tau Sar Pau, and the lady at the stall claims that it’s been sourced from Malaysia.

For the price of $1.50 I must say that I was left pretty impressed; soft, fluffy and pillowy pau with quite a good amount of smooth and aptly sweet red bean filling within — quite light even for its size, and pretty comparable to the one at Forty Hands but certainly wayyy cheaper. Apart from serving these hot, WonderYam Confectionery does seem to stock up a few packs of frozen Tau Sar Pau ready for those who intend to have them at the convenience of their home; they also seemingly make their own Ang Ku Kueh in-house in various flavours — something which piqued my interest for yet another visit soon!
