I’m real glad to say that Wow Wow West’s chicken chop is still real good eatin’ 10 years later. Unlike their once fantastic fish & chips which have suffered from an appalling drop in standards, their chicken chop is still a winner at $7.50.

The chicken chop is a bit on the skinny side, but the meat is juicy and superbly seasoned. The skin is done just right, with the sub-dermal layer of fat all cooked out and with charred bits in all the right spots. The chicken may have been thin in thickness, but the size is stellar and a surefire satisfier.

Not a fan of the crinkle cut fries getting changed to their more straight-laced counterparts, but alongside the slaw & the baked beans, it’s still an acceptable accoutrement. You could definitely do a lot worse for $7.50, kids.

I’ve been gorging myself on Wow Wow West’s fantastic food ever since I was a young lad, and they’ve managed to keep their sublime standards up. Until today, that is.

Their fabulous fish & chips ($8 now) was my all time favorite, so I was looking forward to many good and delicious things to come. Well, said good & delicious things never arrived. First off, I don’t know how they screwed around with the breadcrumb coating that the fish is cocooned in, but they’ve definitely screwed it. The once glorious breadcrumb coating was more like a batter, and it was nowhere near as crunchily satisfying as I remember it. It was even soft and bready at certain points instead of being charmingly crisp.

Secondly, and most shockingly, the quality of the fish fillet has fallen straight through the fricking floor. The fillet of old used to be moist and passably flaky, but the current iteration is mortifyingly mushy. That alone was enough for me to say “I’m sorry, it’s not me, it’s you.”

Also, the fact that someone forgot to salt the fries certainly didn’t help at all. Well, that’s another childhood memory ruined.

Chicken Chop, $7. Came all the way here for this awesome western in ABC Brickworks market! Chicken Chop is one of their signature and portion is huge, comes with baked beans, and fries! If you wondered, we swop coleslaw for more fries🍟! The chicken is well-grilled with some crispy edges, juicy meat and that mouth watering crispy chicken skin which we couldn’t resist in! We love their chunky cut fries that has more texture than those shoestrings kind! Everything goes so well with their house made black pepper sauce. Indeed, WOW!!! .

I'd say this stall's fame is built on its portions, not taste. Cutlet was not bad, but not outstanding either. Size was without doubt larger than other places and I took unusually long to finish. Tartar sauce seemed homemade so I applaud them. Fries, despite being thick, were crispy. Coleslaw was forgettable.

The portions here are huge and it seems like almost everyone seated around me has ordered from the same stall.

I love the huge portion here which definitely kept me full after a long day of work. The beef was also well seasoned and flavourful but was a little tough. I’m not sure if you can choose the doneness here but I wasn’t asked and maybe that’s why I found the steak here to be tougher than my liking. But am definitely gonna try out the pork or chicken chop here again soon!

Look at the size of the piece of chicken given for the Chicken Cutlet $7. It was huge, nearly as big as my face. For someone who could eat a lot, I was very full after I finished the whole dish. The chicken cutlet was well-marinated and fried perfectly, which is not easily achieved considering the size. The exterior was so crisp and not over fried while the interior was tender and juicy.
