“Sabx2 Pratunum Wanton Mee”
Take-away the wanton noodle back to hotel.

This packet of wanton noodles is simple, plain and full of pork lard fragrance. With springy noodles, thinly cut char siew and a few wantons. The quantity was quite little. (THB 100).

I was totally mia for the longest time, because travels, Myanmar then bkk. So in bkk, sabx2 wanton mee wasn't the first thing we had though it was pretty close to it, since we had landed at 1 am and went for supper at 3 am and then queued for sabx2 at 8 am when they opened.

It's as good as I remembered it and as packed with Singaporeans and other foreigners with the only locals being the cooks and waiters, as I had remembered. My all-time favourite wanton mee is our kok kee wanton mee and this ranks first beside that. No other wanton mee ranks second or third or fourth, only lasts. So just these two up there. That's saying a lot.

Some people complain about how bland and dry the noodles are, quite the contrary, I don't think it's bland at all? Very flavourful in fact imo. Perfectly salted and the dryness is just perfect too. And that light coating of oil, is it sesame? Omg, packs so much flavour those damn seeds and their oil. And the chilli flakes.. And would I forget to mention the crispy goodness of that pork lard? Mmmm.. So good we had it twice in four days.

The pig trotters though, pales in comparison. I don't understand why everyone I went with that day insisted that it's a must. Oh well, to each his own. I'd save every baht and spend it on the noodles instead lol.

Side note: They open at 9 but get there early like 8 to queue. The second time we went during those four days though, we went late like 1145 and there was absolutely no queue. But just a few minutes after we were seated, a queue reemerged. And while seated, we had to wait forever for our noodles.

This is a must to add to your noodles and braised pork trotter.

The boss in action, same street, same stall, same enthusiasm and dedication in his business. True Teowchew A-Hia 阿兄. Cudos to his ever more popular business and respect his dedication to keeping quality by having this one and only stall.

Kha-moo literally leg (=kah, in Teowchew) of pig (= moo), or Ter-Kah. They really serve one of the best braised pork trotter in Bangkok, maybe the world! The eatery is now filled with 90% Singaporean, so it needs no further introduction.

I can't say I wasn't highly skeptical about this Sabx2 Wanton Mee after reading all the madly positive reviews, so much that I almost gave it a miss. But I'm glad I didn't. The seasoning condiments were different, yet so so delicious. Perfectly cooked, springy noodles, tossed in a fragrant mixture of condiments that I swear has sesame oil. Cheap and stunning.
