Think this claypot rice is really worth it trip to the west. Ordered a medium one (abt 5 small bowls) for ($15), able to feed 3 pax. The claypot comes with lupcheong, salted fish and chicken. The chicken is tender and not drying at all while the salted fish adds a different fragrance taste to the rice.
Must try their pig liver dish ($8) !!! It’s cooked to the perfect softness, people who doesn’t eat pig liver, it’s really worth the try! 😋👍🏻

I like their claymore rice, not so sticky and the dark source is just nice. Good for small group gathering.

I eat this shop afew times a year and I would say this travel to the west is worth it. The claypot rice with chicken, Chinese sausage and salted fish is not bad. The chicken is very soft and nice. $15 for medium.
On top of that, we ordered a chicken dish (ma you ji) which has really good sauce and chicken cooked to perfection. $8 for small
The pig liver dish which is cooked w ginger is the reason I keep coming back. It is cooked to the right amount which makes it not too hard for consumption. This is a must try for pig liver lover and worth a try for those who don't fancy pig liver. $8 for small.

On top of the usual chicken, salted fish and Chinese sausage (lup cheong), I finally tried the Mixed Claypot Rice 五味饭 from Xiang Jiang which has waxed pork (lup mei) and Chinese liver sausage added. Of course I ordered the Claypot Sesame Chicken 砂煲麻油鸡 as well~ The smokey and crusted rice at the bottom with the aroma and texture of the waxed meats makes for a satisfying dinner!

Quite disappointed with this; while the chicken sauce was nice and gingery, this dish was basically just a few pieces of bony chicken and a few slices of lap cheong on a whole claypot full of rice. Most of the time you're just eating hot plain rice with black sauce. A waste of calories. 10 bucks.

Since I was young I only know of one place to go to when in dire need of satisfying my claypot rice craving and that is Xiang Jiang Chicken Claypot Rice (香江砂煲饭。粥). With my family, we usually order their Chinese Sausage Rice and Claypot Sesame Chicken. I love their sesame chicken which is tender and well marinated with their yummy gravy! And the fragrant waxed sausage is best complemented with the crunchy, charred bits of rice at the sides of the claypot which is really the beauty of the whole dish. #hawkerpedia
