Xin Mei Congee (724 Ang Mo Kio Central Market)

This stall gives a taste like home. It isn’t too hot when it is served and is still pretty filling. I enjoyed this and would get it again.

I had this sudden craving for porridge, and search engines directed me to Xin Mei Congee at 724 Ang Mo Kio Central Market & Food Centre (#01-32).

Apart from its affordable price (S$3.00), what I enjoyed about their congee was that it was already cooked to the point where most of the rice had become starchy, which technically also means that there is hardly much biting involved. Plus, it comes with a single stick of fried dough fritter (油条), which was said that it was not sold separately.

On the other hand, I would really hope to fish for more meat in the congee, but this “problem” can easily be resolved by paying S$1.00 more for additional ingredients.

Now this is good comfort food for a cloudy Monday.
