Love a good coffee shop hidden gem, such as this Xin Peng La Mian at the recently refurbished Bistro 8 at Blk 442 (opposite the 448 market)! Saw several reviews that the Spicy Red Dumplings here are a must try and they really didn’t disappoint - these dumplings are so huge and meaty and only at $5 for a plate of 10! The meat filling texture is less compact and more similar to what you’d get in XLB but it sure is packing with flavor and juices! The sauce was decent with a good vinegary kick but slightly lacking in the heat department, though you can add more chili (Lao Gan Ma) on your own.

Always on a lookout for a good noodle dish as a self-professed noods lover, and the huge portion of Chicken Chop La Mian ($5) left me in a food coma towards the end LOL. The hand-pulled noodles were cooked well with a decent chew and the cutlet was not too oily, but I felt that the meat sauce was somewhat underwhelming. Honestly if not for the little traces of minced meat, I didn’t know it was minced meat sauce lmao.

XLBs ($4): their xlbs were larger than average, juicy and the skin wasn’t too thick tho it broke quite easily once picked up. not the best but v decent considering the price!

fried dumplings ($5): initially found it off-putting how these dumplings were completely fried but they actually taste quite good!! crispy on the outside yet retaining the juiciness of the filling, which they were generous with.

five spices beef la mian soup ($4.50): would advice to just skip this…. a plus is that they are generous with the beef slices which were quite tender but the entire dish is so bland, someone pls pass me the salt 😩

Red Oil Wanton - the wantons with the chilli oil was delicious, and the hint of vinegar in the sauce added a nice tartness.

In my opinion, this is my favourite place for dumpling & noodles in singapore! Their prices are super affordable and even though the queue is long, the wait is very fast. Pais only $4 for 6 xiaolongbao and $4 for each bowl of noodles. As you can see, the noodles came with generous portions of chicken cutlet & dumpling! Their noodles were springy as they were handmade from scratch.

Not the best rendition and not really worth the money. Sauce was pre-made and set aside hence it wasn’t hot. Noodles was not stir fry with the sauce rather, sauce was just drizzled on the cooked noodles.
