When it comes to bubble milk tea, I believe this new place is no stranger. Originated from Taiwan and their first outlet was nowhere else but Subang.

Well, they said the Signature Brown Sugar Boba with Milk is the best because it is Instagram worthy, but because I preferred tea over milk.

This cup of Signature Brown Sugar Boba with Milk Tea actually taste pretty normal, nothing much to rave about. The tea actually tasted quite bland, but there was points added to this, because of the very fresh and chewy boba that is always freshly cooked and demonstrated while you queue for your drink. The sweetness level is just nice, but behold of the long queue in all the upcoming outlets as well.

Amid the cluster of bubble tea shops in SS15, Xing Fu Tang stands out for its snaking lines around the block. Boba here is taken to the next level – spot the giant wok at the entrance filled to the brim with pearls soaked in brown sugar, which is used in the signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk (RM12.50). Burppler XingWei Cheang waxes lyrical about the drink's well-balanced flavours and boba's mochi-like texture. While waiting for your drink, head over to the 'happiness hall' to draw your fortune from a chest of numbered brown drawers!

✨: I was expecting to be disappointed, but I was enlightened by the brown sugar fresh milk gods as soon as I took a sip of Xing Fu Tang’s rendition. The milk was light and refreshing, with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the complete opposite of one of their competitors that start with an ‘A’ and end in ‘Y’. As for the pearls, I personally enjoyed the mochi-like texture of the pearls, but I understand some people prefer harder and chewier pearls. The drink had a subtle fragrant hint of cream cheese as well (not exactly sure if it’s actually part of the ingredients list). From my description of the drink, it’s no surprise that I was reminded of Haagen Dazs’ cream cheese mochi ice cream (that is bomb.com). Taste aside, a trip to Xing Fu Tang really is an experience in of itself. You get to see the live cooking of the pearls in brown sugar, the blowtorching of the drink’s brown sugar topping, and have your fortune told by randomly picking out a fortune stick (hence the name Xing Fu Tang, which translates to ‘happy/fortunate place’). ⁣

💬: Of course, the one downside of Xing Fu Tang is its crazy long queue! The line stretched across multiple shops when I visited, but perhaps it’s gotten better now. ⁣

I’d definitely recommend Xing Fu Tang and would actually find myself craving a cup! As not that big of a bubble tea person, this is a big statement. ⁣

This long awaited Taiwanese originated bubble tea has finally opened in SS15! From left to right pictured: matcha, brown sugar milk tea, strawberry, brown sugar milk. They were all pretty average considering the long queue, but our favourite was the brown sugar milk tea while the others fared badly in comparison. Do take note that the queues are quite long and their signature drink and strawberry drink are only available for order at certain times of the day.
