Have been following Yan Ji ever since it's Woodlands Checkpoint days and despite the upmarket CBD price it's still a meal I'm willing to have regularly. Soup is still as gloriously flavourful as I remembered, chock-full of seafood-ness and umami. Minced meat didn't reach the heights of the good old days but is still enjoyable, as is fish, whatever your choice is (mine was Batang). Everything was just fresh and delicious, love it. The elderly auntie clearing table is also very friendly and chatty - treat her well!!

Rich bowl of goodness with tinge of wokhey-ness. Seafood ingredients are fresh and you can choose from a variety of fish options. It’s definitely on a pricey end but I guess you pay for quality.

Expected Damage: $9-$15/bowl

Very rich bowl of seafood soup with wok hey smell in it. Generous with ingredients; fish slices, meat chunks, prawns etc. the dry Chili flakes (used to be able to scoop yourself, now need to ask for it) goes so well with the seafood and rice!!

Expected damage: ~$12-$15/bowl

I had the basic dory seafood soup, with added noodles ($1) and cabbage ($0.80). The broth, which I believe is made from prawns, was rich and delicious. There was a good amount of seafood, and the seafood tasted fresh. It is pricey, especially if you choose the other options, but worth an occasional treat.

Giant Grouper Soup (S$19)
180g sliced giant grouper
Accompanied with plain rice (S$1)
Available at @yanjigourmet in @funansg
Only about 8 slices of fish although the meat was mostly quite chunky and firm. Love the creamy rich broth.
Price more on the high side.

Had the Fish Maw Set Lunch at @yanjigourmet with thick beehoon and it's yummy too! The soup was very tasty and they were generous with the fish maw plus meat balls/chunks too! The lunch set comes with a drink so it's quite a good deal 😋
