Didn’t expect Yan Ji Seafood to open an outlet downtown - but they did - at Far East Plaza to be specific...!!
I got there just when they were opening for the day at 11:30am - I was their 2nd customer - so no long waits. In any case, I doubt wait will be long since there are only about 12 tables in the store.
Ordered the regular bowl that cost $8 - a little more expensive than the one at Marsiling - must be downtown price. Added extra minced meat for an additional $2 and with rice - lunch cost me $10.80.
The regular bowl comprised of 2 fresh tasting head-on prawns that were firm and crunchy, Dory fish fillets, a single clam and chunks of well-seasoned handmade meatballs swimming in a bowl of very flavourful - probably MSG ladened - broth - and I was pleased that I had an almost full bowl of broth cos if you’ve been to the other outlets- you’d know how stingy they can be with it. Lunch was good - was actually tempted to order a 2nd bowl - and now I’m thinking - why didn’t l...?? 😔🤤

This time we ordered the premium bowl and whilst this is meant for two, with the addition of meat patties, this was plenty for the three of us. So yummy and I am so happy that they enjoyed it too.

There’s just so many things to love about this bowl of goodness. The broth which leaves a lasting memory in your mind that makes you crave for more (my second visit in a week!) and those minced pork patties are so good. You can now try this awesome bowl at the Far East Plaza. Yes, they are here 7 days a week and in air conditioned comfort. Prices are steeper but I’m not complaining as it’s easier access for me. If have two or more pax, it makes good sense (and cents) to share the premium bowl (SGD30) as you will have abalone and crayfish thrown in. I paid SGD16.80 for this today, the grouper seafood soup with an extra portion of minced pork. Great start to a dreary, rainy Sunday! Happy Sunday all!
