Loved the Deep-Fried Soon Hock / Marble Goby Fish so much, that we got additional servings of it.

The large boneless fillets of soon hock / marble goby fish have a crisp crunchy exterior, a soft flaky tender interior, and pick up the sweet salty savoury flavours of the soy sauce gravy well.

The Glutinous Rice Ball, Black Sesame Paste was decent, with balls of chewy glutinous rice filled with a thick rich black sesame paste, coated with grainy finely crushed peanuts.

Bite in to the room-temperature treats, and you get a burst of sweet earthy nutty flavour.

The Stir-Fried Beef Tenderloin, Spring Onions, Black Pepper Sauce is delicious.

The medium chunks of American beef tenderloin are chewy juicy with a medium-rare doneness, carrying good meaty savoury salty flavour.

There's crisp white onions and crunchy spring onions with vegetal herbal sweet flavour, and crisp bell peppers / capsicum carrying vegetal bitter sweet flavour.

All of this is coated in a rich thick black pepper sauce, lending an addictive peppery salty spice flavour.

The Sweet And Sour Pork, Tri-Colour Peppers, Pineapple is yummy, served in a rather large portion.

The Deep-Fried Eggplant, Pork Floss was pretty good. The thin sliced and battered eggplant / aubergine / brinjal has a crisp crunch to texture, with a gentle vegetal sweet salty flavour.

The wispy chewy pork floss lends a meaty savoury note. Visually though, it doesn't look like much.

The Poached Spinach, Tri-Colour Eggs is served in a rather large portion.

Almost like a soup, the robust broth of chicken egg, century egg, salted egg, and garlic, carries a bold eggy salty sweet herbal flavour. Filled with soft crunchy spinach leaves with vegetal sweet flavour.

Not quite what I expected with the Fried Rice, Sakura Shrimp, Olive, Egg White, which features white rice tossed with sakura shrimp, green olives, and egg white.

With a fluffy loose grainy chewy texture, this held deep shrimpy savoury salty earthy flavour.

Served in a rather large portion towards the end, we couldn't quite finish this.

The Sweet Corn Broth, Crab Meat is really filling.

The thick gloopy egg drop soup is filled with wispy egg, juicy corn kernels, and chunks of deshelled crab meat, resulting in a vegetal sweet savoury eggy flavour, yum.

Makes you feel full really quickly, which isn't great at a buffet, and is therefore best shared.

Limited to 1 serving per person, the Double-Boiled Abalone Consomme, Cordyceps Flower is incredibly delicious.
.
The thin broth is packed full of herbal sweet savoury earthy flavour, so addictive.
.
A whole abalone sits within the tea pot, staff prompted us to remember to eat it, and it was tender bouncy with sweet savour herbal flavour. We wished for more.

Ordered 3 dishes and 2 rice. The glass vermicelli dish is generously filled with large prawns. I have never ate a bad glass vermicelli dish before except once in a Thai restaurant at Tampines. This dish usually will never go wrong. As WB has never ate vension before, he ordered this dish. I had ate many years ago but I have forgotten the taste. Well, there's no gamey smell which is a big turn off for me. The meat is chewy and slightly tougher than beef. On hindsight, I shouldn't have ordered the kurobuta pork recommended by the waitress, cos the type of meat used is those shabu shabu pork. I would much prefer a thicker texture kurobuta pork. The dish itself is slightly sweet since it's cooked with barbeque sauce.

Scallop meat was sweet and slightly crisp on the outside. Like the crispy corn bites too

They help you to wrap it up and put the appropriate amount of the sweet sauce in it. The duck skin is crispy and it is a solid bite.

Served in a teapot, this double boiled soup was the best dish of the night. The delicious soup has the flavour profile of essence of chicken and black garlic.

This was one of the better dishes here at Yan Ting. Had a set lunch menu, dishes were reminiscent of what you would expect from a Chinese hotel style wedding dinner. Another good dish was the Cod Fish, nicely tender! However the other dishes were pretty one dimensional and average

Went to Yan Ting for a birthday celebration on a Sunday afternoon and opted for the Brunch ($128/pax) just because ala-carte would have costed almost the same for 5 of us.

Started off with a lobster w egg yolk which was part of the brunch. It was alright nothing special (i guess lobster to justify the hefty price tag). To make the best of our bucks, we ordered a myriad of dishes and tbh, i would say they are your average Chinese tzi char dishes with a few exception of unique/rather expensive ingredients. Would I say it’s worth the $128? Given the location, service, food served i would say maybe for some but to me not really. I’d rather spend that money at Kai Garden (still the best Chinese restaurant to me)

Super interesting! Filling was liquidy almond paste and a piece of lychee. The only sweetness was from the lychee, and that really made the lychee taste stand out.

These had big juicy whole prawns and minced pork hidden inside. Not bad

Only a couple tiny pieces of scallop in each rice roll. Disappointing!

Had many good ones this year, and this was one of the memorable pots.
My faves lean towards the deep, sexy, heady variety, and Yan Ting’s Chinese New Year Pun Choy was as va-ba-vroom as it gets! One sip and confirm you’ll feel Huat!
