I have never been a huge fan of carrot cake. I had expected this dish to be unimpressively starchy and bland (as usual), but this rendition definitely proved me wrong with its rich flavour profile!!! The pudding-like carrot cake was soft yet bouncy, and contained generous pieces of Chinese cured meat (lap cheong) and fresh radish which gave the dish a very unique texture. The refreshing savoury sauce they doused all over the steamed carrot cake also was a huge flavour boost. I thought it tasted like a stronger version of the chee cheong fun sauce - which I have always been a HUGE fan of! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Taste: 9/10

Price: 10/10 (This huge serving only set us back by $4. I would say most dishes at this humble dim sum eatery are extremely value for money)

Ambience: 7/10

Yummy dimsum at affordable prices. Preferred the steam dishes over the fried ones. Recommend the har gao and siewmai!

One of my favourite all time dim sum places to go is ไธ€็‚นๅฟƒ (yi dian xin). They serve up a simple menu of traditional dim sum which is handmade daily at the kitchen.

My personal favourites includes the Steamed Carrot Cake ($2.80). Instead of the usual chopped up and fried with eggs and pickled cabbage (giam cai), this steamed version comes with a savoury soy sauce mixture, topped with chopped chives and sesame seeds.

The carrot cake is extremely soft and melts almost instantly. Scoop up some of the sauce while youโ€™re at it to lightly flavour the smooth and soft carrot cake.

Pretty good siew mai though we thought it was a bit pricey. Meat was juicy and had a good bite while its skin wasnโ€™t dough-y. The wait may take a while due to the crowd.

I love fried carrot cake. But i got to say tt this steamed version at Yi Dian Xin is rly yummy too โค

The carrot cake is super soft & has bits of lup cheong in it, adding a nice flavour to it. The black savoury sauce complements it nicely too ๐Ÿ‘
