Kaisen Bijin Nabe ($68)

If "Bijin Nabe" rings a familiar bell, that's cos @yonpachi_sgp is part of the group which brought us our all-time favourite bijin nabe! Pictured here is a variant of the pure chicken stock collagen. The chicken stock is boiled for up to 8 hours till the bones melt and then mixed with their rich seafood soup to get this super yums broth. Being a soup addict, the entire hotpot was devoid of soup when we were done. That's how delicious it was!

Do note though that the ingredients here are more seafood based and was not as filling as its chicken counterpart at Tsukada Nojo. Also, there was no complimentary refill for the soup.

Crab Butter Bread ($8.80)

Whatever you are deciding to order @yonpachi_sgp , get this appetizer pronto! The crab 🦀butter toast is just devilishly good! 💕💕From the slightly aburi-ed appearance to the savoury umami laden crab butter sitting on that thin crispy warm toast🍞, I bet you'll be craving for a 2nd serving!

If this looks familiar, then you've probably tried the uhhhhmazing chicken version from Tsukada Nojo (which is a place I can keep going to). 😋Yonpachi specializes in seafood, so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard they're doing a seafood version of the chicken collagen hotpot!

So the soup here uses the chicken collagen infused with their seafood broth, giving it a saltier, briny taste. It's also not as thick and hearty as before, which led me to the conclusion that I preferred the pure chicken version. (Also note that there's no refills here at all, with each top-up carrying a $5 price tag)

Ingredients wise, we weren't impressed. The clams dropped out of their shells, dooming many to a sad fate of overcooking. The crab was quite hollow and the prawn balls tough. I wanted to love this but unfortunately, I'll just be heading back to Tsukada Nojo. (The bar bites and small plates here seem really good though, perfect for a night of boozing and sake!) 🍶

Oh my tian. 🤤Oh my arteries. 😂This seemingly simple combo of the best part of a crab mixed with mayo on crisp bread took me on a seaside joyride!

It was like mentaiko mayo on steroids and almost every table there had a plate of these suckers. If I'm coming back, it'll be for the small plates and various dishes but not the bijin nabe that pales to their chicken version. 👆

It's really that simple. Crab+butter+bread=awesome!! This is another amazing small plate dish. Luscious creamy butter sauce with chock full of sweet crab. This would really go well with any alcoholic beverage you might have!

One thing good here at Yonpachi Gyojo is that they bring in the freshest seafood from Japan and they treat them with respect. Here's another simple dish, grilled Hokkaido scallop with soya sauce butter. The scallops were grilled to perfection and the sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the sweet scallops.
