Peak hour on a weekend especially in the weekend does not guarantee youโ€™ll try their famous beef bowls. So I went for their pork cheek bowl which was so amazingly melt in your mouth tender. 5 stars for the texture, but I thought overall the flavour was a bit bland despite the slight smokiness. Still, a pretty nice meal to have with the atmosphere at Bedok marketplace.

The Sticky Bun with Walnuts was soft and quite pillowy, and topped with sticky and crunchy caramelised walnuts. There was a think swirl of brown sugar inside.

Cafe Cartisan gives off an inviting ambience to have coffee and conversations. Going with my usual coffee fix, the cup of latte was medium-bodied and has a nutty afternote to it.

As you can tell, I really love my ice cream ๐Ÿ˜‚ desserts are important in my gatherings with friends and I'm glad to be back at one of my favourite ice cream shops!

We had the gelato and waffles at @smittenicecreambar and we were all impressed by their flavours, with their Mao Shang Wang ice cream being the best. It may be a more expensive scoop, but it was filled with alot of durian meat. It was really fragrant and strong, just like how I would like my durian gelato to be!

The Artisan Chocolate also won our hearts. With a rich decadent flavour, it was not too sweet with a very smooth texture. This is one gelato for chocolate lovers! The Biscoff flavour was also not bad, but definitely lighter than the other 2 flavours we've got.

The waffle was very crispy, quite decent.

Definitely will be back!

Finally visited this recently famous ramen restaurant, @ramenya0103 that really makes you feel like you're in Japan! With just 8 seats in a tight space, expect long queues and waiting times. I queued for 1.5 hours at about 7.30pm on a weekday afternoon ๐Ÿซ

I got the Tonkotsu Ramen Black ($12.80) which I felt was quite affordable with quite a few pieces of char siu. The main star of the show got to be the broth, as it was extremely thick (almost like a sauce) and it had so much umami flavours while not being too salty. We all agreed that we can definitely drink alot of the soup! Love that the garlic oil added extra umami as well. The noodles were alright, quite al dente. Char Siu was very tender and flavourful!

Definitely a great bowl of ramen, but really does not warrant the 1.5 hour wait. 30 minutes is the maximum I will wait for this!

Kao Ge Yu offers a variety of ๐˜ฃ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ง๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ (jelly) as desserts and they are a must try. Sweet and refreshing, the ๐—ข๐˜€๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜๐—ต๐˜‚๐˜€ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜…๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—•๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—™๐—ฒ๐—ป ($5.80) was exceedingly enticing and perfect for beating the heat.

We also liked the ๐—–๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐˜† ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ป ($7.80), which were absolutely addictive.

The ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฝ ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฝ ($19.80) was a winner. The fresh prawns, beautifully butterflied, and scallops, served with glass noodles, had their flavours enhanced by the scrumptiously spicy sauce.

Among the grilled fish flavours, the Classic Sauerkraut is an astute choice, while the Chongqing and the Hot Mala are ideal for those who like to set their tongues on fire. We picked the wildly popular

We had the Set Meal For One ($28), which was actually big enough for two, so Iโ€™m guessing the Set Meal For Two ($48) can feed four. The meaty Seabass, sensationally soft and moist, soaked up the delicious flavours of the broth (just mildly spicy IMO).

Formerly a hawker stall, Kao Ge Yu is now a restaurant with two outlets. Specialising in grilled fish in different flavours, it also offers some side dishes and desserts.

I didn't manage to try them at Bedok Corner and they seem super popular now. The plate arrived very dramatic so 10/10 for presentation. The best element was the chicken leg, which was top-notch in flavour and execution. That however isn't the best compliment, because the rice and the lamb underperformed. The lamb wasn't bad, but lamb shank has to blow you away. Cafe Mariam's mandi was much better. This place has good variety though, and I want to try their kabsa and maqluba.

A berries drink apparently popular in Middle East. It tasted very basic and I didn't enjoy it.
