First thing I noticed is that they provide electronic menu but it cannot be use for ordering, you still have to write down your order manually on the order sheet.🤨 Each donburi set comes with miso soup, 3 pc gyoza and free flow Japanese salad (cabbage with tangy sauce). It would be better if there were more stuffs in the salad, eg. tomatoes, cucumbers etc. Oh well, it’s free flow, so I’m not complaining. The gyoza was really tasty, you could taste the crisp on the skin with juicy pork fillings inside. This was so good we ordered another separate plate of it. The pork belly was very tender and well-marinated. The saba was pretty well done too, the fish was moist and no fishy taste at all.
It is a bowl of rice topped with a deep-fried pork cutlet. Yum yum. Love the breaded pork. Crispy on the outside and Tender on the inside. Sometime they also cook it with curry gravy.
.
Featuring the Kare Katsu Don (Japanese Curry Rice with Breaded Pork) S$9.80 from @gyozayasg. It is topped with a generous slice of bread pork with picked vegetables and Japanese Curry. The curry potato are also soft.

Starting from only $14.80 onwards, all set meal comes with free flow Japanese salad, 3 pcs normal gyoza and miso soup.

Some of their popular set meal choices include:
.
Tendon Set $18.80 that comes with an assortment of crisp and deliciously battered vegetables and prawns. .
Salmon Saba Donburi $17.80 with the saba snatching the highlight from the salmon this time! It is rare to consume a saba with such moist flesh with slight visible fats.
.
Gyu Kakuni $20.80 has a mix of tender pork belly and beef slices. A suitable option for meat lovers who could not decide between pork or beef. .
.
You might also choose add on a couple of sides such as the Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings with House Miso $8.80, Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings with Mentaiko Miso $9.80 or the Japanese Nanban Chicken $6.80. These dumplings were their highlights as well since they called themselves Gyoza-Ya. No doubt they were definitely bold in taste. .

Thanks @desertingbeauty for the review.
Slather anything in mentaiko and instantly the dish becomes a star in my eyes. Gyoza-Ya's Pan-fried pork Dumplings slathered in Mentaiko Miso is no exception.
What I always order when I visit Gyoza-Ya. Their garlic fried rice is fragrant to a bomb and what I consider comfort food.
.
Fairly large, tender, moist fillet of freshwater eel, which is nicely glazed with a rich, thick, sweet savoury tangy sauce. Overlaid on a bed of fluffy sticky white rice.
.
Generally middle-of-the-road here, simple, yet comforting.

A juicy mixture of tender savoury salty minced pork, and crunchy vegetal sweet cabbage. Choose to pair it with black vinegar and fresh ginger dipping sauce for added flavour.

The Ninniku Yaki Meshi or Japanese Garlic Fried Rice is another must-try. It may look like an ordinary fried rice but it really blows me away with its intense wok hei flavour.
.
The Special Pork Bone Soup with Ramen has a very flavoursome broth. Noodles are very springy too. And the thickly sliced braised pork belly is so soft and tender – it really reminds me of those Teochew-style braised pork belly. 😋
Have your fill of gyoza at this Japanese restaurant & you probably can do without gyoza for the next few months HAHA. Here's the mentaiko and cheese gyozas with pork filling!

Their main highlight would be the different types of gyoza they offer, enticing customers with the attractive appearance of pan fried dumplings with mentaiko/ cheese ? One of the unique menu items would be their jya jya men in which there would be several steps to follow (add vinegar/Chilli oil) and when you are just going to polish the bowl, rmb to save some noodles for the soup version when egg& stock is added! Two different styles to enjoy your jya jya men, however it tasted like Chinese style for the dry one. Soooo try out if you're interested in the soup version of jya jya men.
As many reviewed about this place/ restaurant that served mostly Gyoza, finally decided to give it a try because what could go wrong under the gyoza skin? Definitely a must to try the Takoyaki as well as the Mentaiko Gyoza. However, if gyoza isn't your style, you can try their Jya Jya Men (Like korean's jjajameon) or their udon where it is served solely for one person. Absolute love the garlic fried rice because it was really flavourful and goes well with the udon soup. They also have an interesting way of eating the jyajyamen where instructions can be found on the table. Remember to request for a half boil egg and hot water from the waitress. Not a bad place to give it a try! Easily spotted at B1 of The Heeran (Robinsons), just opposite Marks & Spencer 👍🏻👍🏻 not crazy expensive either & also not a bad place to snack😌
Garlicky fried rice. Fragrant fried rice with fried garlic. Yummy bowl of carbo!
I absolutely like the soy sauce dressing. With a spoonful of egg mayo. Great combination.
Succulent pan fried dumplings, each mouth is full of juicy minced pork and crunchy vegetable that's coated with mentaiko miso!
🙌🏻 Absolutely love the mentaiko gyoza! The Ebi gyoza is strangely much better steamed than pan fried too. 😋 #Burpple #burpplesg #gyoza
I don't really fancy carbs, but I can hardly excuse myself from the Japanese Garlic Fried Rice here. Every single grain feels consistently fried here achieving the slight smoky flavours and one could definitely feel each grain from the other, whilst carrying the flavour of fried garlic running fragrantly throughout the entire serving of rice. A comforting dish to have if you are one who needs a little rice to compliment with the Gyoza.
One of the newest items on Gyoza-Ya's menu is this fusion Gyoza which they have smartly incorporated the flavours of the favourite octopus balls largely found in Pasar Malam stalls into their signature Gyozas. These Gyozas are similar to the pan-fried ones that they serve — the same chunky fillings within the skin with its crisp underside; only difference here seemed to be the Takoyaki sauce with that vinegar-ish aftertaste and kewpie mayo topped with Katsuobushi. It replicates Takoyaki so well, I would say if one ever craves for Takoyaki simply for the flavours of the sauces and Katsuobushi together with Gyoza, this is exactly what you should go for.
Gyoza-Ya has always been a place that my friends and I look forward to visiting to whenever we are clueless on what to eat at Orchard, and even after new outlets opening at both Paragon and ION Orchard, the Robinsons Heeren outlet is one that we would go to for a peaceful hideout — a place with low human traffic that's much conducive to eat at. Tried a good variety of Gyoza there, and this Yaki Mentaiko Miso Gyoza is an absolute must order every time — the skin here is never too thick nor too thin, and the pan-frying makes the undersides pretty crusty which gives it a good texture. Inside the Gyoza, chunky bits of meat gives it the bite with a good meatiness in flavour, while drenched in a flame-torched layer of Mentaiko sauce for a umami touch with bits of cod roe to nibble on — one could actually hear the popping sounds of the cod roes as they blowtorch the Gyoza just before serving. Definitely the item that is a must-try for those who love Gyoza and Mentaiko lovers alike.
The machine made Gyozas here are of precise thinness and adequate fresh fillings. You cannot fault the precision for every gyoza tasted divine (IMO), each different rendition bringing a different twist. The Takoyaki special with a pork octopus filling had a strong flavor suitable for the adventurous meat eaters. On the other hand the gooey cheese and Mentaiko gyoza were the epitome of richness flavors wise.
Yet the conventional pork gyozas stole all of our hearts ultimately, well received by everyone at the dining table. I especially liked the cubed radish within the plain pork filling, giving a crunchy bite to the Japanese dumplings.
On top of great gyozas, taste and quality were not compromised as we dug in our noodle dishes. The small portioned noodles, meant to be paired with gyozas, were delightfully slurping experiences.
P.s: Check out the restaurant's instruction leaflet on how to enjoy their Jya Jya Men the right way (just a teaser, a soft half boil egg awaits before you reach the end of the bowl).
You satisfy it of course!
Have been wanting to try the famed pan fried dumpings at Gyoza Ya, so here we are.
As usual, I needed help for the cheese topping 😅
Honestly, that's all we ordered, because its snacking hour.
