Quite a wide selection of pastries available at this beautiful cafe - there’s a choice of savoury or sweet scones. We went for the savoury scone which comes with spinach and cheese. Love how crusty it is on the outside, and the biscuit-like texture on the inside. I did feel it could’ve been better with more moisture, but the taste was good and my mom enjoyed this a lot so it just depends how you like your scones.

Apart from the regular croissants and almond croissants, Cafe Tommy serves chocolate pistachio croissants which are really unique so of course I had to try one. The croissant pastry is flakey and buttery. Each layer is thin and so good. As croissants go, this wasn’t too oily either. Now what I bought the croissant for - the filling! The pistachio blend was smooth, nutty and sweet. The flavour isn’t as pronounced as an almond croissant, but it’s subtle sweetness is very addictive. If you’re visiting Notre Dame, make time to visit Cafe Tommy as well to check out their quirky and beautiful decor, coffee and pastries.

So creamy and delicious despite the use of non-fat milk! The light foam layer is so thick it leaves a foam-stache, and tastes absolutely delightful. As for the coffee, the beans have a rich nutty roast aroma and it’s a real treat to drink!

Terribly dilute and tasteless matcha latte. You’d be hard pressed to find good matcha drinks on this side of the world. Your money is better spent on the coffee, pastries or food here at Cafe Tommy.

Just 2 minutes walk from Notre Dame cathedral, you can see where my priorities lie when given only 15 minutes in this city on a large group tour. Instead of shelling out CAD8 for entry into the cathedral, I’d recommend making a beeline for Cafe Tommy. The cafe is housed in a beautiful old stone-facade building, and features very creative and quirky decor. You’ll find beautiful seating in every corner of the 2.5 floor cafe, including seat cushions on the steps leading up to the entrance!

With a good variety of baked goods and beverages you can have to go, you can pick something up before rushing to catch your tour bus. If you have more time to spare, they have things on bread or other brunch and lunch menu items for a leisurely meal and people watching. Thankfully, the staff here speak fluent English so we had no problems ordering!
