A Café Hoppers Guide To Johor

We are here to bring you on a little café hopping road trip across the state, so you can get an eye full of sights and a mouthful of tasty bites at these four locations.

There are more cafes in Johor than you can point a stick at, so we've picked a few of the best in each district to ensure you're getting a proper adventure, and we've even arranged on distance from the causeway.

For Breakfast
This minimalistic home garden themed cafe is located in the Pelangi area, and is open as early as 8am, which means it's a great spot for breakfast. Things to try out here include their supreme English breakfast (RM28) and a nice bottle of their cold brew coffee (RM10).

For Cakes & Desserts
Head east from the city to Seri Alam and you'll find The Grumpy Goat & Friends. This cafe looks amazing with it's green house style design and filament bulb lighting. The things to try out here are their coffees, cake and desserts. We recommend pairing the Tiramigoat (RM13.80) with The Grumpy Goat Cinnamon (RM26). The creamy and mild bitterness of the Tiramisu coffee goes really well with the strawberry ice cream, honey and Oreo crumbs that decorate the cinnamon sticks.

For a Healthy Lunch
Now we're heading about forty-minutes north from the city to Kulai, this should give you enough time to work up an appetite. Han.Gry serves customizable and ready made poke bowls, cakes and toast. There are a total of 12 different proteins to choose from and we recommend the thyme garlic beef (RM18.90 including base, 4 sides, 4 toppings and dressing), which is really tender. They also have a secret drink menu that changes daily.

For Unique Drinks
Before heading back to the city center, why not drop by this beautiful garden themed cafe in Skudai. This spot is truly the place to shoot your OOTD's at, because it has it's own lawn that is frequently rented out for weddings. We also enjoyed the unique drinks that were on the menu, such as the refreshing Sprite Umami Matcha (RM13) and the "First Kiss" (RM20), which is a cold brew coffee with Hawthorne and sea salt.
