Vege CoffeePhoto by Keach Barry

For Vegetarian Pizza
When you think of pizza you'll think of cheese and salami, two absolutely non vegetarian ingredients, but Vege Coffee has a surprise for you. Their vegetarian pizza (RM16.90) is 100% made from non-animal products, their cheese is vegetarian as its made from plant oils, and it tastes like real cheese, the toppings are tofu based faux meat with mushrooms for that added bite. The best part of this dish is that it looks and taste exactly like a regular pizza. Vege Coffee being a café also has other items on the menu, including a vegetarian chicken burger (RM12.90), and vegetarian shark fin soup (RM15).

For Faux Meats
Green feel restaurant which is located in Permas Jaya has been in the business for more than 5 years, and boast a large menu of vegetarian goodies. Notable foods include their vegetarian suckling pig (RM28), Nanyang chili vegetarian prawn (RM22) and vegetarian chicken and duck rice (RM7.20), all of which share one thing in common ; they taste and feel like their respective meats but are entirely vegetarian.

For Pastry and Coffee
Fancy some croissants but wary that they might be using animal based butters? Fear not as being a fully vegetarian bakery Vburg has an entire list of pastries and breads that are confirmed to be vegetarian. Try their vegetarian croissant set (RM16) which comes with a Croissant (obviously), soup of the day (either mushroom or pumpkin), a cup of coffee, and a small cookie. Vburg also offers a 9 inch thin crust sourdough pizza for RM26.90, and it comes with coffee or tea of your choice.

Kinsahi Photo by Kinsahi

For Vegetarian Japanese Food
Kinsahi has a whole menu just for vegetarian customers, and it consists of Sushi, Ramen, curry rice, Donburi, and even desserts. We would like to recommend the Teishoku (set meal) menu, specifically the Unagi (RM29.90 this dish has eggs) and the Mapo Tofu (RM24.90). The Unagi (eel) is made of vegetarian meat and when seasoned with the Unagi Tare (sauce), it tastes no different from the real thing. For desserts try the Kuro Goma Dango (RM8.90), which is Dango (sweet chewy balls made of rice flour) covered in black sesame seeds, it goes really well with a cup of hot green tea.

Seven OaksPhoto by Klay Eats

For Thunder Tea
Thunder tea (actually its pounded tea), or known as Lei Cha in the Hakka dialect is a dish that is made up from a mix of nuts, veggies, rice and a broth made of tea leaves and mint. It is considerably rare to find a Hakka dish in the state, as the majority of Johorean Chinese are Hokkien, but Seven Oaks has it! Their Thunder tea (RM18) is made from crushed roasted peanuts, long beans, tofu, preserved radish, Sayur Manis (sauropus androgynus), leeks, onions and rice. While the tea broth is made of green tea leaves and mint, so it is with confidence that we can say this is vegetarian friendly. Another vegetarian dish would be their Keledek fries (RM15.90), which is fried sweet potatoes seasoned with asam spice.
