Very good food but weird rules We had a wonderful meal at Torio recently, and I must say their food quality is really top notch! Their Kiwami Omakase course ($138++ per pax) consists of a variety of cooked dishes, sashimi and sushi. From grilled fish to multiple sashimi courses, we were treated to many exquisite ingredients. I must say many of the courses consist of otoro, but I am totally not complaining as their otoro were so fresh and rich. Food wise I must say we were thoroughly impressed. Do not expect a very posh ambience, but do come down to enjoy good food. However, there were things we weren't so happy about. They didn't allow us to sit at the counter seats at first as we didn't order the chef omakase sets which were much more expensive, but complied later on as we ordered a more expensive course set and they brought us to a rather quiet corner of the counter. I didn't get why we couldn't sit at the counter, as the seats there were largely available the whole afternoon. Definitely would have spoilt our dining experience if not for the wonderful food they served. All in all, go for their good food without too much expectations!

Otoro and Uni Sushi You can’t go wrong with fatty tuna and uni! The omakase from @toriosg was pretty worth it in my opinion, as the courses are packed with quite luxurious ingredients.

Torio Omakase Opted for the Omakase. I love the freshness of each dish that is being served and how the Chef ensures the freshness of each dish that is being served. But the price is slightly on the pricier side, if you are looking for super fresh sashimi galore, I would recommend this place ◡̈

Unique experience Amazed by the innovative approach to food, it was interesting to see new techniques on dishes for example the Squid Noodles with Ink which tasted great with the char from being grilled over charcoals!

Best prawn toast ever! Their Prawn toast is especially crispy, fresh. With the sauce mashed on it, the flavor is combined with a pleasant sweet taste.

Great food, worth the price We started with the sourdough bread, the seaweed and honey butter is good. We tried the squid noodles and ink, it’s a must try. Very interesting and unique dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. Jumbo king prawn, though on the pricy side but it’s worth every bits of it. We can see lots of creativity into the food preparation.

Best Lobster bisque pasta Lobster bisque pasta was very flavourful! Prawns and scallops were expertly cooked! Love the ambience and service provided. Definitely recommend!

Amazing Food and vibes Had the fried squid tentacles and the fish and chips and it was amazing and fried to perfection. The seasoning was on point and the fish was made better woth the malt vinegar spray. Staff is friendly and helpful with recommending their dishes.

Good food Environment of the cafe was really peaceful and had good vibes. Observed that the outside seatings were pet friendly too. I had the duck confit was tender and soft and the squid tentacles was seasoned well. Staff were prompt and attentive. Food was delicious. Good recommend 👍👍

Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) Indulge in a pure cup of bliss like this Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate from The French American Bakery @thefrenchamericanbakery! Aside from the alluring aroma of freshly baked pastries hitting me when I opened the door, there's no resisting a cuppa of rich, thick and unsweetened hot chocolate crowned with fluffy swirls of Swiss meringue that added a caramelized sweetness from the torching! Lowkey regret having such a filling lunch cos the pastry selection available smells and looks so amazing! Made a mental note to myself to buy their Butter Croissant next time so I can dip it into the hot chocolate!

Torched Hot Chocolate ($8) This viral sweet treat has been popping up on my feed so often that I knew I had to get my hands on it. The French American Bakery is located just a short walk away from my office & is my usual spot I go to for my mid day sweet snack of pastries, brownies or just to have a look at the gorgeous variety. Their latest Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate ($8) has been the talk of the town for quite some time. Rich, thick, hot chocolate (that isn't too sweet) is topped with swirls of melted marshmallow & torched upon order. What you get is an aesthetic, crispy drink that's not only nice to look at, but tastes great too! Indulge in a cup by yourself, or share it with someone, this is definitely something to try when you're in the Bugis area!

Hot chocolate with Torched Marshmallow This beverage will be an absolutely delicious treat on a cold rainy day. The dark, velvety chocolate has a distinctive valrhona-like bitterness. The burnt Marshmallow offers a complimentary sweetness that was just right with the hot chocolate. And visually it looks stunning as well. Everything is perfect except for the warm weather.

Minced Meat Tofu ($5.50) Smooth, wobbly eggy tofu with a slightly crisp exterior, served in a savoury, starchy, and meaty sauce. A simple classic dish that is always a pleasure to enjoy.

Minced Meat Eggplant ($5.50) This dish can be cooked with sambal or garlic. We chose the garlic style. The eggplant is deep-fried to retain its natural taste and texture before being tossed into a savoury meaty sauce infused with hints of garlic. This preparation helps the eggplant absorb the flavours without becoming too soggy. Appreciated for the effort done.

Signature Kung Pao Chicken ($6.50) Tender chicken stir-fried with a rich, savoury, and starchy sauce in the claypot under bold fiery flames. It has mild spiciness, and the bubbling sauce resembles a roux texture, which can be slightly salty. Pairing it with rice balances the flavours perfectly.

Yunnan Style Hotpot with DIY Bingfen & Tanghulu Had the Yunnan-style single hotpot lunch set and was pleasantly surprised! For $29.90, you get your own pot, a main, veggies, carbs and a drink. For an extra $10, you can upgrade to a premium meat or seafood option. The free-flow Market Table was a highlight which includes DIY bingfen, tanghulu, dipping sauces and various side dishes. I picked the black truffle mushroom broth, super fragrant and full of flavour. You can also choose a yuan yang pot if you prefer the best of both worlds. The Signature Jasmine Flower Shrimp Paste is a must-try ! Bouncy texture with a lovely floral note. Ended the meal with soft serve and a refreshing DIY bingfen. Bonus: they also sell Yunnan flowers, which make a sweet takeaway gift!

Great vaule set lunch! Delicious hotpot spot at CHIJMES with great value lunch sets. Broths are simmered for 8 hours—rich, clean, and flavourful. Loved the mushroom variety flown in from Yunnan and the handmade noodles with no additives. Don’t miss the crispy mozzarella cheese ball and house drinks. Bonus: they sell fresh Yunnan flowers daily. A relaxing, quality lunch experience!

Green curry set Very good chicken green curry pairs with white rice and with this set was a bowl of fried fish which was absolutely fresh n yummy! The set came with lemongrass drink too. Will surely come back!

Tom yum beef soup Another great dish from Yum Yum Thai! It is served with rice or noodles - your choice.

Yummy fried rice with chicken So many pieces of tender chicken with fried rice paired with Thai fish cake that came with the lunch set and a cuppa Thai milk tea. Very substantial n delicious!

Amazing Sushi Experience I had the pleasure of experiencing the lunch sushi course and it was truly an unforgettable experience! 🤩 This lunch sushi course offers exceptional value, combining high-quality ingredients with impeccable service. Loved every dish but the standouts for me were the ootoro, amberjack and tuna maki! 🍣 If you're looking for a quality sushi experience, this is an aboslute must-visit! 👏🏻

Nice ambience and the best hotate sushi I had Very clean and relaxing ambience. Dishes are well served, especially their hotate sushi is one of the best I had before.

Affordable and quality omakase Sushi muni is one of the most affordable omakase experiences you can get in sg! My favourites were definitely the Amberjack with citrus pepper dressing, makimono chopped tuna belly (they chop it up right in front of you and you can see the delicious maki being made on the spot) and the chawanmushi was great as well.

Salt & Pepper Chicken McCrispy No idea what salt what pepper. This was nice but McCrispy itself is already nice.

Banana Pie I've eaten this returning item before but I must repeat it's a worthy challenger to the original apple pie. Caramelised banana is not inferior to apple.

Crisscut Fries Better than thought! It's so fragrant and when crispy it's even better since it's tiered. I wouldn't spell criss-cut that way but it's actually McDonald's registered trademark haha.

Fried Fish Beehoon Not our first time encountering this. I felt last time was better. The soup this time was flatter and the fish only tasted of the batter, not fish.

Sweet & Sour Pork Rice A filler dish, I would say.

Herbal Chicken Mee Sua Such a great idea. Probably why it ran out first. But it wasn't done very well. The soup was so-so and the noodles had a cheap texture.

One for one pasta Tried the mentaiko salmon carbonara with ebiko Love this pasta! The mentaiko and carbonara combination always work It feels a little Jelat but disappears so quickly when it’s shared. Tried their coffees as well — like the dirty sesame and iced latte. Spent around $80 for two sandwiches and two pasta (2 one for one deals) and 4 drinks so a great meal!

Chicken parmigiana One for one pasta — the portion is great. The taste is pretty average but the portion does make up for it.

Chicken schnitzel and cubano Chicken schnitzel and cubano: Such a good portion and cool plating. The sandwiches are great — portions are great and the sourdough base is soft.
