Letโs Go To Lago I still donโt know when mala became a hyper popular thing in Singapore, but Iโm glad it did. Otherwise, I would never have the pleasure of savouring Lago Mala Tangโs delish dry stir fried Mala. Itโs quite the hidden gem as it is literally hidden away in the back of Fortune Center, and sees long queues every day for this mouthwatering mala.โ
โ
Lago has an extensive selection of dishes, from veg such as broccoli & lotus root to meats like thin sliced beef & pork belly. And unlike many mala merchants, itโs all pretty well priced too. I picked out pork belly, some chicken, Shanghai greens, broccoli, shimeji shrooms & lotus root, and all it cost me was $12.80 flat. The meats & veg were fresh, but what really powered this entire dish was the spicy numbing qualities of the fragrant mala sauce mix.โ
โ
I chose the less spicy version just in case, and it worked excellent. The fragrance from the Sichuan peppercorn infused oil seasoned & spiced up everything in the bowl. Oddly enough I felt like there was some peanut butter added in to the sauce or something due to the thicker than normal texture & slight sweetness, but it was of no concern to me. That numbing, spicy & savoury sauce adequately flavours everything in the bowl, and it was a match made in heaven with the thin pork belly slices.โ

For such a large portion, $12.80 such is a steal. So La(ts)go to Lago Mala Hotpot now & fill up on some scintillating food and spice up your day.
