My new-found favourite burger place! Lil' wonder why this is Amsterdam's most famous burger place. What less can you expect when the buns (sourced from Tiong Bahru Bakery) were toasted-to-crisp in an oven - no butter involved and what you get is the fragrant sesame aroma, crisp toast and not-at-all oily/cloying bun (Note: Some burger places grill it on the underside with butter). The beef patties were incredibly juicy and flavoursome - grilled only to medium, in line with Lombardo's motto "eating meat well done is like kissing your sister" (i.e. plain gross!) Here's featuring the Dutch Cheese Burger, topped with red wine onions which were incredibly appetising. If you're conscious of onion breath, you've little worries because onion-hater like me actually loved it because of it's onion-less 'stench'. They were well marinated and any possibility of 'onion' breath or bad onion after-taste was quelled. What you get, is really the sweet-tasting & crunch of the onions to complement the juicy beef patty. Also, the marinated tomatoes are worth of mention too - nothing like raw, boring tomato slices but marinated as well. I particularly love the whole-baby pickles. Yes - WHOLE pickles, baby sized - really cute and crunchy. Last but not least, the homemade burger sauce in orange is the winning concoction of their secret recipe - slight tangy and too secretive for me to be able to pinpoint other ingredients that had gone into it. All I can say is, it's the perfect combination to their perfect burger.

馃崑 Lemon Zest Fries $8 | Thick-cut fries with lemon zest, served with homemade mayo. 鈥楯ust the right level of thickness - every bite was a great balance of crisp and potato-ey fluff. The hint of lemon was mild, best tasted when you鈥檝e the fries plain (ie, no mayo dip!)

Pork-a-licious Burger ($29.50) A juicy patty with tender pulled pork, this burger is quite memorable. Despite the copious amounts of sauce given, the marination of the meat still permeates the meal. The burger is also pretty massive so it is likely to leave you satiated. The dish is not a main so it does not come with fries. Drinks also have to be ordered separately but no water is provided. There is only an additional service charge. I would still recommend this place though especially for their burgers.

Yorkshire Pudding It is definitely starting to feel a lot like Christmas with these airy, light and crisp Yorkshire puddings. So light and airy you don鈥檛 feel like you are eating anything until you start drinking.

Hearty Burgers and a Pleasant Atmosphere My boyfriend and I dined here this evening with Burpple Beyond (1 for 1 main meals). We each had a burger with fries. Boyfriend had the Bacanater (bacon cheeseburger) I had the Cheese and Whiskers (a beef patty adorned with a quartet of cheeses: cheddar, provolone, mozzarella and monterey jack), both priced at $17.90, exclusive of a 10% service charge. It was simple and hearty fare done well, and we both enjoyed the juicy pub-style patties. The fries were also really good鈥攆luffy on the inside and not overly salty. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good too, nicely decorated and well-lit. The only thing we felt could be better is that the drinks were pricey (e.g. $3.50 for a can of Coke) and the only water available was sparkling water. It would have been nice to be able to have tap water or even mineral water for sale. I know it鈥檚 not difficult to bring your own water when you鈥檙e out, but I鈥檓 not sure what that would mean in terms of dining etiquette. Nevertheless, it was a good experience and worth it because of the 1-for-1 deal. We would recommend this place to others or even come back to dine again.

Holy Guacamole 馃挼: $15.90 馃搱: 6/10 馃: Small portion for original size, but justifiable with Burpple Beyond. Patty was a bit too salty, so I didn't finish it. Love that they serve fat fries instead of shoestring! Overall an okay burger, wouldn't see myself returning for it.

Spaghetti Carbonara I鈥檓 not a big fan of cream pasta but the Spaghetti Carbonara ($16) from Mpire is quite delicious! The savoury bacon and parmigiano cheese cut through the creamy sauce and go well with al dente spaghetti. Got this at a steal with Burpple Beyond鈥檚 one-for-one deal鉁岎煆

This would probably be 1 of our favourite finds around the Amoy-Telok Ayer area, amongst the countless restaurants. Interestingly, they weren鈥檛 as packed as some others although we felt they were as good, if not better than some. We liked that their appetisers were priced reasonably and came in small portions so we could try more varied dishes. We enjoyed what we had, grilled prawn, crab croquettes and especially the grilled octopus that was on point. We picked their spiced glazed pork belly which was spectacular and yummy good, flavourful and great meat-fats proportions that was pleasant to enjoy. There were more appealing sounding items on their mains, pasta and risotto list for a sumptuous meal. Similarly for their appetisers that we liked. But we were glad we saved space for dessert as the red wine poached pear we had was really memorable to end with. We would recommend to wine and dine here after having some of their cocktails and absolutely loving them. Have a little chat with Mr Star who may concoct some special mix in your drinks if you鈥檙e not going for the wine. The interior of @mpiresingapore was chic and cosy, for a formal date or comfortable gathering. The final highlight: members of @burpplebeyond would be delighted to enjoy the incredible valuable deals here. So sharing this good find, hopefully not at the expense of being harder to get a table next time.

Seafood Risotto The tomato-based Seafood Risotto ($24) from Mpire comes with octopus, tiger prawns, mussels and crabmeat, and I must say that the taste and texture are on point. The risotto is flavourful, packed with umami and the seafood is chunky and fresh. Although the portion is not big, I鈥檓 not complaining given that there is an one-for-one deal on Burpple Beyond:) Wouldn鈥檛 mind returning to try out the other items on the menu!
