Kueh Salat (3 for $3.50) One of the best kueh salats I have had, which isn't saying too much because I haven't tried many. I like the pandan custard here - it is fragrant, smooth and just the right amount of firmness. The only part lacking is the glutinous rice, which was tough, grainy and didn't have a strong coconutty taste. However, I have tried the kueh salat from the same shop a few months back and it wasn't like this then, so maybe this is an anomaly.

Don't Buy $3.50 for 3. Omg don't buy this, the green layer is ok, could be more flavorful but it's nice. The glutinous rice layer has almost no flavor and tastes just like plain glutinous rice. Not sure if it's just this batch or it's the usual taste.

Ondeh Ondeh $2.50 for 6 pcs (ate 1 already :P). Bought this from the food fair stall at Tiong Bahru Plaza. It's nice, the gula melaka bursts upon biting into it with fragrant pandan smell. Wished the skin was thinner but I would buy this again.

Lor Mee There are a few hawker centres around Ang Mo Kio and actually this is my first time here at Chong Bong Market. I was looking for those popular stalls with queue, which leading me to this stall selling lor mee and laksa. Their lor mee wasn’t too diluted while retain the lor. Coming with lots of ingredients such as the pork slices and ngoh hiang. Definitely a decent bowl for only $3.

Ang Mo Kio Lor Mee for Breakfast. It's very decent lor mee, the gravy not too starchy,quite light, so don’t feel so jelak, have a lot ingredients,from braised meat, fish cake, ngor hiang, hard-boiled egg and bean sprouts. 💰$4 📍Ang Mo Kio Lor Mee Laksa. Lor Mee Not my first time. The food probably doesn't justify the queue, but this lor mee has its merits. Most of all, above its decent ingredients, is the exceptional lor bak. They use a good and generous cut that I'm willing to compare to ramen chashu.

Chicken Feet Noodles Chicken feet stewed in a savoury dark sauce so soft that the skin falls off the bone. It has hints of sweet flavours with mostly collagen and a bit of meat. It also comes with stewed mushrooms that absorb most of the savoury flavours from the sauce. Unlike their wanton noodles, the chicken feet noodles have more moisture to the noodles coming from the dark sauce 》$3.50

Wanton Noodles Three wantons, crunchy vegetables, char siew and springy noodles topped with pork lard and spring onions. The noodles were cooked al-dente with a good sauce mix and the char siew are roasted in-house with a good mix of fat and meat. The only problem I faced was the lack of sauce to mix the noodles but this can be easily solved by adding a spoonful of soup. Not to mention how generous they are with the portion served for the price paid which explains the constant long queue to this stall 》$3.50

I always go back to Ang Mo Kio 😆for food. This time tried the @angmokio453wantonnoodle. I ordered the wanton mee, add the char siew. The noodle texture is quite Qiu with bites, toasted in their chilli sauce (no more additional chilli provided), served with plump wanton and char siu (towards to lean side of meat and quite char). 💰$4.5 (add $1 for additional char siu). 📍453 Ang Mo Kio Wanton Mee. 162 Ang Mo Kio Ave 4, #01-28, Singapore 560162 (stall inside Mayflower Market & Food Centre)

Black Carrot Cake This easily makes my top 5 list of carrot cake stalls in Singapore. The black carrot cake (white is good too) is so delicious with generous amount of cai po (preserved turnip). The stall owner is super friendly too!

It Don't Matter If You're Black Or White Famous parents. Or famous son, depending on your perspective. One of the joys here is how nice the stallholders are. Another is the price. Both colours definitely better than your average carrot cake.

This plate of carrot cake just officially stole my heart (bonus points with super friendly Uncle)💓 Very very generous portion for $3! Usually I don’t really like black carrot cake (don’t judge me yet) - due to the sweetness of the black sauce and making it overly jelat after a few mouth. But this my Friend, it was just of the right amount of sweetness, savoury-ness and Super Super fragrant! Love that extra big piece of eggs fried within those moist carrot cake!

White Beehoon From a zichar stall along Hup Hup's row. It's swimming in the broth and every component was fine. I appreciate the large fish slices.

Ang Mo Kio Fried Kway Teow Quite long never eat this. So flavourful and rather wet.

Yong Tau Foo with Zhajiangmian While most people prefer another yong tau foo stall at this food centre with long queue, there’s also this stall that sell the same thing as well. Jia Jia Yong Tau Foo is also serving decent yong tau foo with lots of items to choose from. Fried items are separated if you choose the soup version. The soup is tasty and I “upgrade” my meal with a bowl of Zhajiangmian.

Roast Meat Stall Decided to order from this Roast Meat Stall after seeing it on google review. Ordered the 1 portion meal ($8.50) which I think is enough for 2 people if add rice. 1 unique thing about this stall is they served ah char. The roast meat is the best i have tried. It doesn't have the burnt and salty taste. Roast duck is also good but char siew can be improved. Overall, a good place for all the meats dish

Ho-Bee Roasted Food Seeing a steady stream of customers at Ho-Bee Roasted Food, I joined in the queue as well. Since many of them ordered the 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝗰𝗸, I chose that as well. The meat was tender and juicy, but the glistening skin wasn't as crispy as I'd hoped it was. The achar on the side was surprisingly good, its crunchy and sweet-sour profile providing both a textural and flavour contrast. Overall it was pretty decent, if a little too oily. Come for their coriander fried chicken! [LAVENDER, SINGAPORE] Don't be mistaken by their speciality Coriander Fried Chicken 🍗 ($8.90), as these wholesome pieces were instead marinated with coriander seeds, not leaves. The batter may be slightly too thick in some areas, but it was crunchy and very flavourful. The marinade has penetrated the meat well, and I love how juicy the meat was 😍 each rice set also comes with veggie fritters and tempeh, which were very well fried. Do have their rice with sambal, as not only the former has citrus flavours from the lime leaves, the latter had such a good spicy kick! You can change out the rice for their indomie ($1.50), and they did it very well as well due to its al dente texture. The other rice set variations were decent as well, especially the Grilled Lamb 🥩 ($9.90) which had little to no odour! But all in all, their coriander fried chicken still appeals to me the most. This is one food place to visit if you are working nearby!

PRC Economical Rice Buffet I came for PRC caifan and was stunned to find a buffet version. $12.80 nett. But you get what you pay for - the quality was at times below those outside, the aircon was barely there and the cooking smoke was everywhere because no exhaust vent. Here's my first round, featuring braised beef, braised pork, saliva chicken, kawaebi, French beans, tomato egg, chilli oil tofu, shredded potato, assorted mushrooms. There's also Sichuan fish, clams, diced chicken, chicken feet, eggplant, broccoli, dou miao, a bland fried kway teow, egg drop soup, fried mantou, nuggets, dessert mooncakes and soft drinks. Not a good experience.

Rosti in a Hawker Centre Ang Moh Zi Char is the only hawker stall in Singapore I know of which serves rosti. Being a big fan of their sister stall Butternut Kitchen and their thin crust fusion pizza, I was kinda looking forward to trying their rosti. For $13, you get a nice sized rosti topped with a salmon fillet and some garden peas. The key to a good rosti is a crispy crust and unfortunately, Ang Moh Zi Char's rosti was soggy and greasy. I will be back for their pizza but will probably give the rosti a miss.

Rosti Order the Rosti with 2 protein (chicken chop NC Salmon which cost $12. The Rosti was served quickly in about 2mins to me that's when I knew it was not cooked to order. The Rosti is soggy and not crispy as I expect. The salmon seems a bit undercook. The only good thing would be the chicken chop which was marinated well. I felt that overall, concept of this stall is good but food is not as good as Butternut.
