Mixed carrot cake Decent portion for $4.50. The white carrot cake isn't those crispy type, but it's flavourful enough. As expected the black carrot cake would be more fragrant with wok hei, but I generally prefer the white one for the natural taste. Rating 6.5/10 as there are not many carrot cake stalls nearby, I will return to patronise.

Awful Meal Mutton Soup (S$6) Addon Rice (S$0.50) which was topped with vegetables and dried shrimp paste Only 2 slices of meat. Mostly sliced leeks and bean curd, plus 2 wedges of tomato (weird). Penang Char Kway Teow ($5.50) Aromatic "wok-hei" permeated the oodles of noodles completely. And because it was relatively grease-free, I hardly felt the twinge of guilt that usually accompanies the act of me falling face first into a plate of "char kway teow". The only thing I would change about this is the beansprouts. They could do with some fattening up.

Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup ($4.50) I have walked past here several times at night and it's always full of customers feasting on their steaming hot pots of "Malacca Satay Lok Lok". I haven't tried it for myself so I can't comment but I did have their "Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup" and it was really satisfying. They're generous with the smooth rice noodles - almost too generous in fact. And although the plentiful shredded chicken breast meat was a bit on the stringy side, all was forgiven when I sipped the soup. It was clear but full of flavour, and it had crispy bits of fried pork lard in it! Ok, anything with fried pork lard gets me beaming, so I was immediately nodding my head happily as I sucked up every drop of soup from the bowl. They also have this wonderful spicy chicken rice chilli sauce which went very well with the "hor fun" and shredded chicken. Another plus point is they are open till 2am every single night so I know where to go if I feel like having a healthy supper :)

Malacca Satay Lok Lok Located at Tanjong Katong. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall the food is just normal... Buffet price about $26.80 per adult..

Heartwarming Herbal Soups This place was amazing! I got the white chicken and fish maw soups and they were so delicious. The fish maw soup was so rich and tasty, and the chicken was basically fall off the bone. Besides the soups, the side dishes were amazing as well. I really recommend getting the prawn roll. Also, the service here was really good. The staff were so attentive, and they gave us a free refill of the fish maw soup. I’ll definitely want to come back here again! (Esp since it’s so convenient and near Aljunied MRT)

MUST TRY Collagen Fish Maw Soup Ordered a couple of dishes but my favourite was the Collagen Fish Maw Soup — rich & flavourful with tender fish maw and abalone (plus 1x refill!! 🤤). Loved the Prawn Roll as well!! Crispy outside with juicy filling and whole prawns inside.

Soul warming soups Finished every last drop of the hearty soup. Really energised me after a long day of work and chicken is sooooo tender!

From the ’70s Vibes to Durian Delights—What a Meal! My wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner when we stumbled upon this restaurant along Tanjong Katong Road. Curious, we decided to give it a try and we’re so glad we did. The interior took us on a nostalgic trip back to the ’70s, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, which made us feel very welcomed. After a few recommendations from the person in charge, we decided on two main courses and a dessert. I ordered the Double Bacon Smash Burger, and it was absolutely fantastic. The homemade brioche bun was soft and buttery, and the Wagyu patties were cooked to perfection. Both my wife and I agreed it tastes better than Shake Shack’s version any day. My wife went with the Homemade Spaghetti with Fresh Crab Meat in Special Chili Sauce. The flavors were bold and unique, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. A word of advice: go with the normal spice level because it already packs quite a punch! :) For dessert, we tried the Durian Crème Brûlée, and it was the highlight of the evening. Topped with pure durian pengat and served with fresh blueberries and strawberries, it was one of the best crème brûlées we’ve ever had. A must-try for durian lovers!

A Gem @ Tanjong Katong A nice and chill spot in the Katong neighbourhood, Seng House truly surprised me with its quality food. We had the Double Bacon Mash Burger and Spaghetti Al Granchio, followed by their Durian Crème Brûlée. The burger was juicy and tender, while the spaghetti was incredibly delicious — a must-try for crab lovers who enjoy a little spice. To end the meal, the crème brûlée was rich, creamy, and absolutely satisfying. We’ll definitely be back again!

Chill bar with great food Very chill bar in a very chill neighbourhood. Their fusion of chinese flavours with a western twist will leave you speechless. Definitely will be back again.

Comfort food The free flow sweet potato porridge is silky-smooth with a rich, homely flavour that warms you right up. Cereal prawns? Absolute addiction material perfectly crisp, buttery, and fragrant. And the cai poh omelette… fluffy, golden, with that irresistible savoury crunch in every bite. Every dish tastes like it’s made with love. 100% worth coming back for!

Chicken Teriyaki Don From My Cosy Corner Amazing portion of chicken teriyaki bento. Fluffy rice, sliced watermelon and salad. Highly recommended!

Buah Keluak and Prawn Petai Dishes were delicious and well-cooked. Tasty but not too overwhelming. Mr Raju was very hospitable and friendly - recommended all the right dishes! Worth it.

Prawn Bestador We really liked the prawn bestador! Never tried this before and the taste was great! Worth it with Burpple beyond.

Affordable Peranakan gem Always passed by without noticing this non-descript restaurant, but after a colleague mentioned that this was her favourite weekend meal, decided to try. Staff were proactive in approaching us and sharing about the menu. They have a wide range of dishes, but I was immediately drawn to their set meals which were so value for money. Starting from $13.80, you could get a main, 2 sides, and a dessert - a considerable steal for the portion as well as the standard! We chose the Ayam Kleo and Babi Pongtay set, trying all the sides, and sticking to the Sago Gula Melaka for the desserts. Everything was so good, and do remember to ask for their homemade chilli which complemented the meat so well. Overall, a filling and delicious meal and we would definitely return!

Chendol I love Penang food, but was quite put off by the staff's attitude. I don't hate the chendol but it's not good.

Worth A Shot Located in the same shopping mall as Yan Chuan Roasters, Traditional Penang Food is an eatery that serves a wide array of dishes from nasi lemak to the Penang variant of dishes such as char kway teow, laksa and prawn noodles. The CKT here is decent and has a good wokhei flavour. Lemme know where you think serves the best Penang CKT in town!

Traditional Penang Food Visited here a few times because near my office, if you thinking to take Penang food, you can come here and try their signature dish which is Penang prawn noodle or Assam laksa. They have other Malaysia traditional foods also.
