Mixed carrot cake Decent portion for $4.50. The white carrot cake isn't those crispy type, but it's flavourful enough. As expected the black carrot cake would be more fragrant with wok hei, but I generally prefer the white one for the natural taste. Rating 6.5/10 as there are not many carrot cake stalls nearby, I will return to patronise.

Awful Meal Mutton Soup (S$6) Addon Rice (S$0.50) which was topped with vegetables and dried shrimp paste Only 2 slices of meat. Mostly sliced leeks and bean curd, plus 2 wedges of tomato (weird). Penang Char Kway Teow ($5.50) Aromatic "wok-hei" permeated the oodles of noodles completely. And because it was relatively grease-free, I hardly felt the twinge of guilt that usually accompanies the act of me falling face first into a plate of "char kway teow". The only thing I would change about this is the beansprouts. They could do with some fattening up.

Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup ($4.50) I have walked past here several times at night and it's always full of customers feasting on their steaming hot pots of "Malacca Satay Lok Lok". I haven't tried it for myself so I can't comment but I did have their "Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup" and it was really satisfying. They're generous with the smooth rice noodles - almost too generous in fact. And although the plentiful shredded chicken breast meat was a bit on the stringy side, all was forgiven when I sipped the soup. It was clear but full of flavour, and it had crispy bits of fried pork lard in it! Ok, anything with fried pork lard gets me beaming, so I was immediately nodding my head happily as I sucked up every drop of soup from the bowl. They also have this wonderful spicy chicken rice chilli sauce which went very well with the "hor fun" and shredded chicken. Another plus point is they are open till 2am every single night so I know where to go if I feel like having a healthy supper :)

Malacca Satay Lok Lok Located at Tanjong Katong. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall the food is just normal... Buffet price about $26.80 per adult..

Authentic herbal soup Stumbled across this while we were walking at Aljunied area and trying to find a dinner place. We especially love their radish omelette and signature jade tofu. The omelette was light, fluffy and goes so well with the cai poh. The jade tofu was fried to perfection & wasn’t oily. We also got the prawn rolls and I loved that I could see actual whole shrimps inside!! The soup we got was the collagen fish maw soup & I loved how clean and flavourful it tasted at the same time. FYI refills are free & we got a refill of the delicious soup. Loved that even after drinking the soup, I did not feel thirsty - that’s how you know the soup is truly authentic and boiled for hours! Overall, will definitely come back again to try their other soups as well!!

Great herbal food option! Great no-frills dining. If you are looking for an authentic filling meal with fried seaweed beancurd, prawn rolls, radish omelette and fish maw collagen soup, Tan Ser Leng Herb Restaurant is the place to be! The fish maw soup was filled with herbs giving it a delicious and traditional herbal taste. Atmosphere was great too, the air ventilation was good as there were ample fans. Would recommend!

Traditional herbal turtle & chicken soup I was craving herbal soup today and came across a reputable restaurant near where we were looking for lunch. After a short wait, we managed to get a table and were immediately impressed by the variety of dishes and soups on the menu. Since it was my first visit, I asked the server for recommendations. We decided to share the claypot turtle soup and the cordyceps flower kampung chicken soup. She also suggested two of their signature side dishes which is the jade tofu and handmade fresh prawn rolls which we ordered to complement our meal. The claypot turtle soup was hearty and full of rich herbal flavor, while the cordyceps flower kampung chicken soup was light, nourishing, and refreshing. I found the signature jade tofu impressed with its delicate texture and vibrant taste and the handmade fresh prawn roll stood out with its crispiness and the natural sweetness of the prawns. Altogether, the dishes were well-prepared, flavorful and complemented one another perfectly. We ended our meal with free complimentary ice cream which is free flow for all the guests. Strongly recommend for those who like herbal soup to give this restaurant a try and plenty of road side free parking on Sunday and after 5pm on weekday too.

Cosy, chill dinner spot! Seng House was a cosy little place for a nice casual dinner date! Ordered the smoked squid and citrus and claypot chicken rice to share with my friend because we weren’t too hungry, but when both of these dishes arrived, our hunger was aroused haha! Our favourite had to be the smoked squid, because you can really taste the smokiness from the grill but the tangy flavours of the pomelo that were topped on it helped to bring a good balance to the bitter char! This was a solid 8/10 for me and my friend. The chicken rice came in a claypot and we were told to mix it so the slightly charred crispy bits at the bottom get distributed, and we absolutely loved how fragrant the rice was! Very interesting take on the local chicken rice dish, paired with a solid spicy hainanese chili sauce. For dessert we had the durian creme brulee, two of my favourites as a sweet treat after dinner. The sugar at the top was slightly bitter but when eaten together with the custard and durian, perfectly evens out the sweetness and making the dessert one that you could just keep on going! Overall, I loved the chill cosy vibes of the place and interesting food choices offered at Seng House. Only gripe is that it can be a bit out of the way if you don’t have a car, but there are a few buses that brings you to different mrt stations, so just beware of this :)

Smoked squid & citrus Nice dinner place with good vibes and satisfactory meal. Ordered claypot chicken rice, smoked squid & citrus and the durian crème bulee. The claypot chicken rice was very fragrant and the charred rice added additional crisp. Love the smoked squid the most! It has a nice smoky taste and the squid was chewy with addition of pomelo which gives it a refreshing twist. Creme bulee was also great, it was creamy and rich and the durian pengat at the side enhanced the durian flavour further which ties the dish nicely together. There were quite a few interesting items on the menu, would definitely be back again to try the other dishes!

Great place Delicious food at affordable price

100% Recommended This was my first time visiting this porridge place. Their signatures which include sliced ginger and spring onion beef in claypot, hotplate tofu and chai poh egg are must-order dishes which goes very well with rice or sweet potato porridge. The porridge is prepared in taiwanese style with a thicker consistency and the rice grains retains a soft yet chewy bite.

Smoky Wokhei infused dishes I've been craving for this all week. First stop here right from Changi Airport, got the Ginger beef, this hotplate tofu, preserved radish eggs and sweet potato porridge. It's great to be home!

comforting porridge place great place for a homely and comforting dinner. cai po omelette was so simple but the highlight of the show, so good together with the porridge!! would return to try the kampong chicken and pig trotter beehoon. also shoutout to the super friendly uncle staff!

Egg Prata I have been constantly disappointed with pratas I have had everywhere else . Cafe O is probably the only place that can make my prata the way I like it. Crisp , light and not greasy . The accompanying fish curry is always rich and tasty . Too many disappointments from prata else where - either too greasy , not fresh ( because they were not made ala minute - usually made in stacks and pilled up ) or the curry is watered down - like curry powder with water . I am further convinced that I should get my pratas here only - regardless of noises that say why pay more for a prata here. It’s the quality ... Yo !

Soft Bun Meal ($5.50) Comes with Soft Bun, 2 eggs, Hot Teh/Kopi. The food and drinks were good! Buns were crispy and soft at the same time, prefer this to Ya Kun’s toasts. Their eggs are less runny though. Overall a yummy meal 🍞🥚🥚☕️ However, the service was dismal in comparison. I was standing there for almost 10 minutes, but nobody told me what’s the “right side of the queue”. The queue only formed when I was about to order, but I had to re-queue. Then I was left standing like a fool waiting for my meal, even though they could have told me to take a seat first. It was my first time there, how was I supposed to know how the service works zzz. Disappointing service 👎🏻

Egg Prata Cafe O is my best bet to get an egg prata that is completely “Matte” and crispy . Why matte - because there is no trace of oil. And for those of you who have pet peeves of oily Prata - this Prata will be TOP on your list . It’s pretty much like eating a crepe actually 😇 Be sure to request for non oily Prata and just to inform you - only a specific indian gentleman can make this order to my standards so I’d always be sure he does my Prata ( he takes the evening shift ) . The curry is so aromatic without being greasy or oily :) The best place to have Prata in air con comfort .

Great dishes and service [KOVAN, SINGAPORE] Why did it take me so long to try this place??? Recently me and my friends decided to try out some peranakan food and the food here slaps hard 😍 There is one dish you MUST order, and that is their Honey Pork 🍯 ($12.80 for small). This dish was the ultimate flavour bomb. Sweet and savoury, the pork slices were very well executed due to its tender meat and the amount of sauce that is coated around it. It was incredibly smoky as well, without being bitter at all. Such an additive dish I can eat with rice alone! The Bakwan Kepeting 🍗 ($12.80 for small) will be my next recommendation. Yes the soup might look plain, but it had a good comforting flavour that will make you go for seconds! This soup came with 5 HUGE meatballs that were tender, flavourful and of course, meaty. Ayam Buah Keluak 🍫 ($15.80 for small) is another rice stealer, with a very thick, flavourful sauce that is just slightly spicy and sour. The earthy flavour comes deep from the buak keluak, and it's actually my first time trying this! Little did I know that it tastes like chocolate by itself??? However, I do have a gripe though... The chicken wasn't marinated long enough for the flavour to penetrate all the way in. The Nyonya Chap Chye ($16.20 for large) was decent, nothing to shout out about. Do get their Nasi Kuning 🍚 ($1.40) to accompany all the dishes for that extra coconut kick! With their comforting dishes and warm service, I'm definitely coming back for more 😍

Their rendition sits on the opposite end of the spectrum than most, being the most heavily seasoned and spiced version. Buah Keluak and Prawn Petai Dishes were delicious and well-cooked. Tasty but not too overwhelming. Mr Raju was very hospitable and friendly - recommended all the right dishes! Worth it.
