Crispy Chicken Wings ($12/6 Pieces). A sweet beginning to the lovely evening, the crispy chicken wings is an appetizer not to be missed. What caught my eye initially was the thick batter that turned out to be really crispy with an extra crunchiness. But the real reason for falling in love with this was the mesmerizing truffle maple drizzle, especially as it drips while picking up the drumlet. Despite the mild truffle aroma, the sweet maple syrup in contrast to the juicy chicken was really endearing. Vongole Pasta with add-on scallops ($26 + $8). •HOSTED TASTING• Nestled within Oakwood Premier OUE and helmed by Executive Chef Dickson Fung, Se7enth offers contemporary dining in a classy ambience. A pleasant dining experience without any doubt. As a vongole-lover, I was pretty much looking forward to the vongole pasta. While the al dente spaghetti was tossed with generous servings of clams and scallops in garlic, chili and white wine, I found it to be a tad dry. Taste of white wine was subtle, which would have been preferred if it was more evident. Nonetheless, the juicy scallops were a delight. For 1-for-1 Buffet (~save $60) Meat lovers, jot this one down! This meat-centric Buffet (from $42) housed in Park Hotel Alexandra serves up superb roasts in a comfy setting. While there isn't a wide variety, the salt-grilled Ana Paula Black Angus Ribeye and the succulent Spit-Roasted Chicken with Truffle are sure to satisfy. Also good is the Seafood Medley, comprising fresh prawns and squid in a tasty broth. Photo by Burppler SG Food On Foot

Beef (Dry-Aged, Slow Roasted) Finally had some time for a longer lunch, and decided to head to The Carvery to try the meat buffet. The beef and lamb was fabulous! They even had different types of sea salt that would go with the meats - charcoal, red lava sea salt, mixed spices sea salt. Personally, I liked the mixed spices sea salt the best - it went very well with the beef and gave it more texture and flavour. The service staff were prompt and alert to ensure my water was topped up; they took the time to speak with me - asking if I’ve tried their carving station and even explained how that they dry-aged their beef for approximately 2 weeks before they slow roast it, then roast it in their charcoal oven. In addition, they had 2 types of goat cheeses, which is rare for any restaurants or buffets. It may not be everyone’s top choice but I loved it So thumbs up on this! Their pork knuckle is usually for dinners; and on weekends, they would have 2 different types of beef available. This probably explains the difference in the buffet price. A buffet for the meat lovers!

They were not kidding when they said that their rotasserie chicken is their specialty. The meat was really tender and juicy, and didn't need any sauce to go with it. Rather than the variety, their quantity do shine for certain dishes such as their wood fire pizzas and bread pudding. Worth it if you get the 1 for 1 @chopesg voucher for about $50!

Pink Steamed Scallop Dumpling with Sliced Almond from the brand-new concert of Crystal Jade Pavilion at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The pastel pink delicate skin and plump Australian scallops wrapped within would already draw some “wow”s. Let’s just say they are very pretty, and taste just as worthy. One pop in the mouth and you could slowly savour the moist and juicy flavours of the dumplings. These are further crowned with fragrant toasted sliced almonds. The restaurant has quite an extensive menu, check out what it has here: bit.ly/crystaljadepavilion #DFDSP

Crab “Chawanmushi” from the brand-new CJ concept Crystal Jade Pavilion. Imagine egg white elevated with the innate sweet flavours of the crab juices which blends harmoniously. The other favourite dish of mine is the Sautéed Beef Cubes with Foie Gras Sauce & Garlic. The new restaurant is located within Crowne Plaza Changi Airport which is near Terminal 3, and there is quite a range of repertoire of Crystal Jade classic dishes and modern take of Chinese dim sum and food. Worth a venture to the east, especially so if you are nearby. bit.ly/crystaljadepavilion #DFDSP

If you love big breakfasts, the “Latino Eggs” ($25++) is ideal. The new weekend brunch menu has this for those with hearty appetites. It comprises of eggs scrambled with tomatoes and capsicums, and served with stewed black beans, guacamole, “Tajadas” (plantains) and an arepa (Venezuelan corn bread). Which makes it a refreshing change from the norm.

A Bestseller: The “Reina Pipiada” ($28++ for 3 pcs). Because we had fallen in love with the #arepas we had in Toronto earlier this year, it was imperative to get a serving of the mealy soft Venezuelan corn bread again, this time stuffed with Head Chef Tamara’s take on the classic “Reina Pipiada” of shredded chicken, mayo and guacamole.

“Tortilla De Langostinos” ($32++) Mexican Head Chef Tamara Chavez has just launched a Weekend Brunch Menu that promises to take your tastebuds across the countries of Latin America. Whether your preference is to go light with small plates of tapas to share or hit the hearty portions of mains, there are choices aplenty. As we perused the menu, a basket of complimentary fluffy bread drizzled with homemade Guajillo chili seed oil, thyme, Achiote oil and garlic landed on our table. We enjoyed munching on this while deciding on what to order. I eventually picked the “Tortilla De Langostinos” ($32++), a gorgeous omelette chockfull of sweet and springy Tiger prawns from Argentina. It came crowned in onions and fresh “chalaquita” (Peruvian salsa). Love the bright punch the latter two brought to the dish.

Fantastic Meat They've got a promotion going on their website itself so I didn't use beyond for this. Skip the Deluxe buffet and go straight for Premium. For 75 per person (inclusive of gst and all), I thought the meal was really worth it. The meats were beautifully marbled and melted in your mouth. We couldn't help but get more orders of both the kurobuta karubi and wagyu karubi. Highly recommend getting their tonkotsu soup for your hotpot too, it's lovely and sweet.

1 For 1 Burpple Beyond This set was $22.90 but with 1 for 1 it was quite reasonable. Honestly, was expecting more quality for the food but it was average at best. The rice did not look like Japanese rice, I think they used jasmine rice instead. However, the unagi was quite good but I’ve tasted better before. I liked the sashimi! However, portions were quite small and the chicken in the chawanmushi was pink and I did not dare to eat it. Overall, it was quite okay, would not go back there again if I were craving Japanese, could probably get cheaper and better quality food elsewhere. Food: 6.5/10

MUST READ - Great Food But Very Schemy Went because of Burpple, 1 for 1 and because we love Wagyu so we went for the premium On their website the price of their buffet ranges from 40+ with premium at 64.9++ but as soon as they found out we ereee using burple they wouldn't allow the price that everyone else pays normally, instead it was $180 per person after ++ so we ended up paying 90 per person WHICH IS A TOTAL SCAM because it would have been cheaper without Burpple which was 64++ without the Burpple. Food was great but trust me if you read enough reviews you'll realise they are very dodgy and scammy. Another example is the premium was so much more expensive because it's more variety of wagyu AND you get free flow Ben and Jerry's ice cream which is not obvious and I looked everywhere on their menu and couldn't find it. I only knew because I read a review online, otherwise they would have gotten away with us having no free flow ice cream because they never told us, they purposely hide that info from you. Just because they're unethical and dishonest I wouldn't come back here again. Disappointed that you pay for burpple for such a terrible deal. Shame on burpple for allowing this also
