Prawn Vadai ($1) I haven’t tried many vadais, but can attest to the Original Vadai’s deliciousness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The vadais are peppered with an abundance of spices which make it seriously tasty and flavourful! (I really like the fennel seeds inside.) They come out of the fryer piping hot and crisp, but the inside is soft, fluffy and chewy. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Of all flavours, I liked the prawn one the most because it reminds me of the Chinese 五香虾饼 (ngoh hiang prawn crackers) but with better batter. My mum enjoyed the ikan billis (fried anchovy) one the most because of its crunch and savouriness. We also got the onion and veggie ones, but we prefer punchier toppings and those two were a bit simpler than the prawn and ikan billis ones. I did want to try the daal one, but unfortunately it was sold out. Oh well, next time! I’ll be back. I enjoyed it a lot!

Prawn vadai ($1.50). Probably the only vadai by far that makes me fall in love with the snack on first bite! I also finally understood why it is popular among groupbuys. On a Saturday afternoon when we dropped by, they only had the prawn vadai available and with each order, the vadai were fried instantly again. I found the vadai here not as floury as the usual ones that I have tasted. In fact, even with the relatively crispy batter exterior, the interior was fluffy and well marinated with spices. The prawn on top was sizeable, and surprisingly meaty while the green chilies were complimentary. Will be back to try the vadais with other toppings such as ikan bilis and grago!

Good Prawn Vadai Prawn vadai @ $1 each Had it piping hot and it's yummy. But the batter can be better mixed, the last bite was super salty and the taste lingered for very long time after.

Assorted Vadais ($7.20) 🥯🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 As a big fan of Vadai and Idli, we eye this stall for a long time. They are the original creator of the ever popular "Prawn Vadai", the prawn centered Vadai with the fresh green chilli munch! 🌶🥯 🤤 . As i have to pick up someone at airport, so why not try this at B2 Jewel? 😉 Their shop is tucked in the food corner near the Food Republic. My order is 2×Prawn Vadais ($1.90), 1 Grago Vadai ($1.90), 1 Vege Vadai ($1.50) p.s. Grago = shrimp paste. The guy gave me 5 chillis as if he could guess I am heavy in chilli department. 😆 . I kept these Vadais in my bag until I am back from Jewel (bad practice better eat while it's hot). Thanks to my oven 180 degree 2 mins, I can have them hot & crispy again. They are super! Prawn vadai is a must, vege vadai also good for green munchers. The grago one doesnt like to be reheated so make sure you dont leave it too long in the oven. All in all, I will repeat my order if i want to indulge. 😌🔥 . 🐡 Feedback for the shop: it's quite put off to see hot drink like masala tea for $3 although it is not the only shop we spot this price for drink (saw Teh Tarik at Pita Tree for the same price) but might be better to do some promo offer by pairing Vadai for your customers, don't you think? 🤔 #heritageshop #prawnvadai #localeat

Vadai Everyone should be familiar with the vadai from this one, which has a few outlets across the city. They have a kind of vadai depending on their availability for the day. I gotten the ikan bilis, prawn and grago as snack for tea break.
