Warm soba noodle soup with tempura $18 and green tea. It was all really nice, the noodles tasted very fresh and the tempura was light and crispy. Happy to find tasty broth that is vegetarian, all though a bit salty (7/10). Other people at the table were having more starter/sharing dishes which all looked amazing! Need to go back!
Black bean taco w/ salsa roja, pickled onion, coriander Danish feta. Chose the taco plate which included two tacos, house-made corn chips and guacamole. The chips and guacamole (had coriander in it) were really good, (8/10). The tacos was nice but it got a bit boring since it mainly consisted of beans, would have been nice w/ a fresh tomato salsa (6/10).
Nice balance between coffee and chocolate flavour 8/10.
Portobello mushrooms on toasted sourdough w/ white bean hummus, smoked almonds & a basil & tahini dressing. Huge portion and plenty of mushrooms. Sadly the taste was quite bland, I missed some salty element, goats cheese would have accompanied the dish really well 5/10.
Sweet corn fritters w/ smashed avocado, sour cream and tomato relish. Originally comes w/ bacon but had it switched to Meredith feta. Always annoying when you ask if it can be exchanged, they say yes and then charge it as an extra. Corn fritters were slightly burnt, very pancake like, not that much corn. Huge portions. 5/5
Nice with the honey on the side but very bland taste 3/10
Yum Cha is not for vegetarians (not at Crystal Jade at least). Had some very nice mushroom steamed dumplings, but that was about it. Sad when there's be so many opportunities for good vegetarian dishes. (3/10)
Very fresh and healthy tasting burrito containing smashed white beans, chick peas and avocado salsa. Thought it tasted better the last time I had it. The beans could be slightly more cooked. (6/10)
Ok, a bit bland in taste and too sweet. Must remember to get the honey on the side.
Corn fritters w/ poached eggs, baby asparagus and hollandaise. Comes with house cured salmon but since I don't eat fish I ask if it could be replaced with avocado. A bit unreasonably they said this could not be done and I still had to pay full price. A bit odd when they don't have that many vegetarian options on the menu. The corn fritters were nice but felt slightly manufactured and there was not enough corn. The hollandaise was really tasty but made the dish quite heavy, would have preferred them with an avocado salad. I would recommend a visit but will probably not go back. 6/10
House brewed chai steamed w/ Bonsoy. Spices roasted & ground in-house and blended with honey. One of the best chai I've had, like the spicy flavours!
