For a dumpling specialist shop, the highlight of the meal was surprisingly, the desserts. Dulce de Leche crepes were thin and chewy, and lavished with a generous drizzle of creamy caramelised condensed milk. Medovic, a Russian dessert, was a meticulously assembled slice of cake comprising alternating sheets of spongy cake, cookie-crisp layers and creamy frosting. Flavour was sweet and caramelised, with distinct toffee notes.

Borscht tasted like minestrone. Salmon dumplings were flavourful and well-seasoned. The meat dumplings were filled with a beef-pork mince that was a tad too gamy. It’s also a pity that the dumpling skins were rather thick and doughy.

Matcha roll ($32 for a 6inch roll) from @alamaison_sg - thought that this roll was very good, but had the potential to be even better. Sponge was moist and light, with a fine and even crumb. Matcha and vanilla pastry cream was lusciously smooth. The cream and sponge melded well together, and neither was too sweet. Loved how the matcha cream was vibrantly green, with a distinct bittersweet, grassy flavour.

However, I would have preferred a more intense matcha flavour in the sponge. Also thought that the dusting of kinako at the top was slightly out of place, and would have preferred it to be substituted for matcha!

Generally, a very good cake. It’s a tad pricey for a 6inch roll, but I wouldn’t mind ordering it again.
