Nice supper spot in the east Found this hidden gem at Changi. There is a mountain of choices to choose from the halal menu. From Zi Char, Dim Sum to Western, Malay and Indian cuisine, you will be spoiled for choices. The food is not that fantastic but sinful and good enough for supper. Prata, Roti John and Maggi Goreng is okay. Satay and Otah is actually not bad. Go for the Wheat Grass Bandung to quench your thirst from the high sodium meal. Overall, it is actually a great place to just chill and eat with your family and friends.

Wheat Grass Bandung Located opposite the Changi Village Hawker Centre is a regularly frequented supper place which serves a variety of halal food. My friend recommended this drink (around $3) to me so I decided to give it a shot. It’s basically 小麦草 mixed with bandung. I didn’t think it would work but it turned out pretty decent but the bandung flavor definitely plays second fiddle in the drink. Tad too sweet for my liking though and also way too pricey.

Pourover Mount Kenya Baragwi ( $7.40) Acidic yet juicy enough! It’s a great pourover coffee from a co-op on the foothills of Mt. Kenya. We prefer this to the last Macchiato we mentioned. The fact that it’s served in a mug might not be a preferred choice by some during this Corona Virus outbreak. However, in Starbucks we trust! 🤓 Stay safe & sound everyone! 💚😷

Rendang Chicken Lasagne The Rendang Chicken Lasagne ($18.90) is a flavour bomb. Minced chicken that is cooked in rendang cream sauce is stuffed between layers of Bechamel, Mozzarella and Grana Padano cheese. The layers are not too thick and doughy, the filling is moist and the rendang sauce is rich, savoury and flavourful. The portion is huge as well - perfect for hungry days!

Rendang Duck Pasta This is my first visit to Royz et Vous, a Halal Western restaurant at Telok Ayer, and boy am I impressed with the Rendang Duck Pasta ($21.90). The al dente fettuccine is covered in the homemade Rendang cream sauce that is rich, flavourful and fiery - talk about a sauce that packs a punch! There is a generous serving of grilled smoked duck and it is tender and not too salty. So good!

Molten Lava Cake ($13.90) Royz et Vous is a halal restaurant which is a decent option for dining in. It can get pretty noisy at night. Patrons were raising their voices in their conversations while music was booming in the background. I visited this place during COVID-19 period when dining groups were restricted to 5 pax. Dining time was restricted to 90 mins and the waiters started asking us to clear our table at the 85th minute. Not a good experience to be “chased out” but we wouldn’t want to stay beyond the 90 minutes as the environment was simply too loud and not conducive for conversations. This dessert is a big miss. Chocolate lava was just slightly oozy and the cake tasted flat. The saving grace was the vanilla ice cream and cookie crumble which gave the dish more texture and flavour. Would not order this again.

Founded by Madam Aisha, this muslim-owned eatery opened in May 2015, specialising in Chinese Qinghai style beef noodles, made using an authentic family receipe. . Their soup is made from scratch by stewing fresh beef bones for over 3 hours, creating a distinct meaty sweet savoury flavour, light yet delicious. . Ayam Sambal Hijau ($7.90) An unexpected find located at City Plaza that was filled with many Indonesians. From our observation, the Ayam Sambal Hijau seems to be one of the really popular choices as it’s seen on almost every table. Foodies with low spicy tolerance, I really urge you to think twice before trying. The green chili was no less spicy, even though it looks less harmful than its red counterpart. In fact, the spiciness emerged slowly and exploded eventually! Even someone who loves chili felt that it was really spicy. But it was a good kick of flavour added to the ayam penyet, which I would have liked it to be more juicy although the skin was crispy. Another type of chili was provided as well, which was a little like chili in sweet soya sauce. Still spicy, but there was additional sweetness and saltiness. Well, I liked it with the rice. Each set comes with a piece of tempeh and a small fried beancurd cube. Definitely something that will satisfy one’s craving for chili!

Linguine Pescatora | $28.90++ Fresh Buchot mussels, little neck clams, medley of seafood in light tomato sauce. Find that the pasta portion was little in comparison to its price. However the seafood portion was just right. Pasta was al dente but its price probably makes me think twice of returning. Nonetheless, a very homely vibe which I enjoyed.

Cannoli For desserts, we ordered a dessert platter which came with homemade Sicilian cannoli shells filled with mascarpone-ricotta cheese and rolled in pistachio and vanilla ice cream. I don’t have a sweet tooth but this is so delicious!

La Barca Funghi E Tartufo We also ordered a pizza to share and we picked La Barca Funghi E Tartufo ($28.90). When you cut into the pizza, a decadent mixture of truffle pate, mozzarella, smoked scamorza cheese and button mushrooms oozes right out from the middle and it goes really well with the soft and chewy pizza crust.

Burger Kahwin [~$22.90] A little on the charred side if you can still spot the egg. Aside, this is some power packed burger with 2 patties - beef and lamb.

Seafood Spaghetti Aglio Olio [$18.90] Pricey, but was a pretty good plate with prawns, squid and mussels. Spaghetti was al dente, not too oily and had a generous hand of garlic. Skip their mushroom soup though, as it was unfortunately thin and a little too bland.

Smoked Duck Avocado [$19.90] Don’t think I’ve had avocado in my pastas before, but this worked out pretty well! Smoked duck slices were tender and came in a good portion. They grated cheese on top too, so you get a little of that stretchy cheesy finish.

Ondeh Ondeh & Durian Pengat Cakes I guess you can say these are TMC's piece de resistance. Flawless. But to be fair also, their cakes cost double those elsewhere, so...

Angus Ribeye Masak Merah Mind blown. This is why I visit Muslim restaurants - the portion. All our mains used huge plates. I chose kerabu rice over truffle fries. That's a steak below the masak merah sauce. Although there's variety and it's enjoyable, the fully cooked beef was normal, not far from beef you get at nasi padang haha.

Oreo Shake It's acceptable but can be better.

Um Ali 16++ Nah. Idk if it's authentic but even if it is, I'm sorry it just doesn't cut it. It's literally baked soggy pastry, tastes very far off from bread pudding we are used to. We left half the dessert untouched

Shish tauok 28++ Their chicken is really done marvelously. I mean it could have been a bit more crispy but otherwise it's very well charred and tender. I liked the rice too, it's well separated and has a bite. On top of that there's a spice permeating the rice but my partner didn't like the spice. It's not too strong though

Lamb chop w moussaka 35++ Tbh I ordered it for the moussaka The lamb was overcooked and somewhat tough, but passable. Their moussaka is really good tho, very creamy and full of spiced aroma, without being jelak. The tastes of the various veggies come through nicely too
