You order and pay at a machine and collect your queue number while waiting for your food. Quite similar to the likes of Koi nowadays. During the peak hours like 6-7pm, expect the wait to be longer. However, what’s better than having chips to munch on while waiting? The sauces range from cheese to salted egg, xo mayo and curry mayo. I’m warning you first, the moment you start, you can’t stop. At least that’s what happened to me.

For the fish selections, there’s a daily fish of the day which is limited in portions. It was King Snapper ($17.90) when I was there. So we ordered 1 of that together with Seabass ($12.90). In my opinion, King Snapper (1st pic) is way more value for money. You get two huge slab of battered fish whilst if you are having seabass, it is just one slightly bigger piece. Yet, the flesh for king snapper is soft and fresh without flaking off easily, just how a decent fish and chips should be like. The seabass however was a little tough and not as suitable for this delicacy. I’d recommend the curry mayo to go with king snapper. The original outlet is at Punggol and they now have 4 outlets in Singapore! .

Well, popiah is not so Malaysian I know. The popiah skin wrapping all the ingredients together is so thin I was worried my chopstick skills can’t hold em in. Only downside is that there was not enough turnip, and hence, it became a little deconstructed. .

It’s supposed to be really famous for the sunset view, however, we were there for lunch. Nevertheless, the food was flavourful and decently priced. Love the deep fried spring rolls which were filled with flavourful minced meat, dip into the Thai chilli sauce for more kick. The fiesta rice was also commendable, it’s fried with chorizo bits, prawns and served with hard boiled egg. The prawns in the salad was very fresh and crunchy. Overall, the food is great with even greater view! .

Where else can you get roasted suckling pig at 5 bucks for a portion for 2 pax! The original shop, House of Lechon, was under emergency closure (not sure what this is) but luckily the grab driver is willing to send us to their newer outlet at Robinsons Galleria. We ordered a special and a spicy Lechon to share. The skin was indeed crispy but not light enough so my grandma can’t eat it. Meat though, was flavourful and tender but a tad salty. Great with rice and the vinegar-soya sauce chilli padi dip. I’d go with the special sauced version as the spicy one did not feel taste spicy at all and the meat was more greasy. We also ordered their famous grilled tuna, that was DELISH! I can see why it’s recommended, the tuna meat was juicy which is rare. To further validate if this is good, I’d need to explore other Lechon restaurants. Stay close to my updates! .

We tried Chunky Lobsters at Oxley Tower and ended on a sweet note with desserts at Plain Vanilla. The lobster rolls are all priced at $16 and you can top up $3.90 for a side of lemon tea and lobster bisque! The bisque was lukewarm already when we ate it, otherwise it would have been perfect. The lobsters are really chunky as the name says it. It was served with a side of Cassava chips since there isn’t actual chips 🍟 here. .

My first time stepping into Plain Vanilla and I was wowed by the array of cake and cupcake selections. The interior is really plain and simple, just the way I like it. Honestly, you don’t need to worry much if the food is good. Many were there for the salad takeouts, I’d probably try that soon. We had the flourless chocolate cake which is not too sweet and just enough density and definitely chocolatey!!!! The lemon tart though was not tart enough, the crust was a little hard and the custard, too creamy and lacked zestiness. Maybe for those who prefers their lemon tart sweet than sour, this will be an ideal place to go. .

Serving Wagyu and Pork Cheek bowls in an atas hawker Centre is no longer a rare sight. Expect to pay close to a Japanese don restaurant with prices ranging between 16-22 bucks. Each bowl is served with decent portions of meat so it will surely fill any average eater up. I had the foie gras and pork cheek ($22). The pork cheek melts in the mouth almost like the foie gras and they’re well seasoned with a tad of smokiness. If only they open another shop centrally.... 😝
