Called ahead and ordered claypot rice for 2 pax ($15). Food was ready by the time we arrived. Rice was cooked perfectly and infused with a great char. Yummy!

Ordered dry u-mian ($4) and additional meat (+$1). Noodle texture was really good. Chilli was quite spicy so we asked for it to be separated. Most importantly, this is a viable supper option since it is opened till late. In my top 5 ban mian list for sure!

Not a fan of porridge at all, but this place exceeded my expectations. Ordered meatball porridge ($3.50) with a raw egg ($0.50) and extra meatballs (only $0.50!). Flavorful, cheap and tasty meatballs!

Ordered lor mee ($6), mee sua ($5.50) and sweet and sour pork with lychee ($9). No-frills place which was very affordable. Lor mee and mee sua was not bad, but paled in comparison to putien's renditions of the dishes. The pork dish unfortunately had too much vinegar for us. May come back if nearby!

Ordered the lor mee ($4). Felt that it was average and the sauce lacked the intensity of other lor mees. The amount of ingredients added was good though, and the addition of shredded duck was interesting.

Ordered the dry u-mian ($4). Noodles were cooked well, ingredients were decent (the addition of cai poh was interesting), separate bowl of soup which had spinach and egg was not bad. The dish had a bit too much black sauce though. Decent bowl, would eat again if nearby!

Ordered claypot rice with extra chicken ($12 for a 2-people portion). Flavours were very good, rice was cooked perfectly and the serving of chicken was sufficient. Waiting time was slightly over half an hour though. Cheap and very good!

The grilled teriyaki cod as part of the 8-course kaiseki was my favourite dish of the meal. It was charred perfectly with tender yet firm meat. The grilled scallops with mentaiko was yet another good dish which had very intense flavours. Two of the must-orders!

Ordered the 8-course kaiseki ($75++) which is only available on weekends. Food was really good, service was great, and overall it was worth the price (in terms of both taste and variety). Being primarily a teppanyaki restaurant, this teppanyaki beef dish was decent but not mind-blowing.

Ordered the upsized bara-chirashi ($18.80). Was good and worth it, just that the sauce was slightly too sweet for me. Loved the different textures in the bowl. Go early to skip the queue!

Ordered the $4 portion on a Saturday morning and waited close to an hour. Carrot cake was crispy and tasty, and the chilli sauce smeared on top was slightly sweet. However, I regretted eating it at 10am as the oily taste was slightly overwhelming for a breakfast meal. Definitely one of the best carrot cakes around though!

Ordered the Butao King with egg ($15.90++). Noodles, kakuni and egg were good. However, the soup was slightly too salty and that made it a bit cloying after the first few mouthfuls. Still a decent bowl, possibly a top 10 ramen but definitely not in my top 5.
