Sarawak Kolo Mee At first glance, this looks like a fusion of bcm and wonton noodles except it uses kolo mee. Although it looks dry and plain, the soy sauce used together with fragrant shallot oil is good enough to make it aromatic and tasty. Each bowl comes with extremely springy noodles, minced pork, slices of char siew, lard and a dollop of their homemade fiery chilli. Beware of their devil chilli that burns but at the same time make me crave for more. I like their noodles which are super springy with a light and good texture without the alkaline taste. The minced pork is also well seasoned and flavourful 》$4/small 📍 Lin Yu Mei Sarawak Kolo Mee 林玉梅

Mee Siam This bowl of mee siam is too sweet for my taste buds. I prefer my mee siam to have a balance of sweet and sour. Available only on weekends. Heard that their nasi padang and chilli is good though 》$3 + $0.80 Begedil 📍Oma Muslimah Kitchen

雄 BBQ Seafood Simple Zi Char place in Anchorvale with surprisingly good and very affordable food. We ordered small portions. Cereal chicken (above), stingray, prawn paste chicken, sweet potato leaves with sambal and hotplate tofu. It was about $10 per dish and the service was very fast. I don't think I will go into describing each dish, but I would say that overall it was a really good meal. I've been on a hunt for good ZiChar cereal chicken. So far the best I've had is at Primz Bizhub. But I think this one is comparable or even better in fact. The cereal was very crispy yet not oily. It had a very nice buttery taste to it too. Come on just look at it hahaha

I finally eat you! A different feel eating here - uncles milling around, rushing to ask you to order drinks and delivering fishball noodles to the wrong table. Cheese smell of the carbonara was strong which I like, and the roasted pepper pesto pasta was special, tasted kinda like a heavier, more aromatic bolognese (actually it's roasted peppers and nuts i guess? :D) Heng they ran out of penne, and not their linguine!

Juicy chicken wings and get the chicken satay! We also got quite a variety of satay ($0.80 each) and chicken wings ($1.40 each) from ABC Satay Chicken Wings and most were good! The chicken wings had a good savoury sweet marinade and were very tender and succulent. Though the mutton satay were tough, the chicken ones were tender and all were smoky. A good sharing dish!

Flavourful starchy oyster omelette with fresh oysters The Oyster Omelette ($6 for larger portion) from Tanglin were delightful too! The egg omelette is more starchy than crispy, which is actually the kind I prefer due to the more silky smooth texture. Oyster were plump and really juicy; many of them were bursting with juices in my mouth! Pair them with their garlicky spicy chilli and gets even better.

Ebi Curry Rice This is that unnamed zichar stall I've come to love on the same row as Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Hokkien mee. This turned out funny haha. They probably intended Japanese style, but the curry was as spicy as it's sweet.

Generous Portions At Peachy’s, you get quality food with enormous quantities. The shop is very cosy so you might miss it when you walk by it. I ordered the Cheesy Chicken Cutlet Spaghetti which costs $12. It was very filling, I almost couldn’t finish it. All of it’s food has enormous portions, so go there with an empty stomach is best!

Worth The Wait Went there on a Friday evening. The queue outside was quite unsystematic so take note who came before/after you. Waited quite awhile but the food was damn worth the wait. Huge portion, generous serving of cheese. And it's not expensive at all. Ordered the cheesy chicken cutlet omelette rice and cheesy chicken chop. Total bill $20. Will Come back again to try the other items on the menu

Cheesy Fish & Chips $9.50 Crazily affordable, crazily huge portion, crazily worth it; this place never disappoints! Tried the cheesy fish & chips today and the fish was super crispy and tender on the inside, fries were crispy and on point, coleslaw was as amazing as always, and the amount given was really worth its price! Also, HUGE news! They're accepting reservations starting TOMORROW (29 May)! Beat the queue and reserve a seat, especially during peak hours. I highly recommend this place, especially if you're hungry and low on cash đź’¸ Absolutely love love love this place, do come down to give it a try!

Roasted Chicken + Meat ($6) it's quite nice tbh as a lot of people queued for this stall. But I got bones for roasted chicken :") and my colleagues they did recommend me for trying this. It's slightly oily but then overall it's quite nice.

Good Meal Under $5 In Bras Basah Fragrant chicken rice with tender and flavourful meat. Chili sauce is well done too. Queue can be very long and slow so best to avoid peak mealtimes. Short walk from Bras Basah mrt so it makes for an affordable eat in town.

Steamed Chicken Rice for $7 Taste wise is good. But portion wise? Not worth it for $7 in my opinion. Asked for extra chicken and I did not get it.

Ckn rice 5.5nett Their ckn amount is quite sad but it's very beautifully cut. Go for the 6.5nett portion at least, the price just corresponds to the ckn not the rice amount Chili was good, the ginger sauce was light and pleasant. Rice was normal but I always rmbed TFT being good, and I was reminded again today when I had the chicken: the sauce is amazing. Really intense and full of ginger and soy sauce flavours, it's the most intense sauce for a chicken rice place I've had. Ckn is pretty good too Worth a try if you are okay w paying a premium, usually the queue is short too cos of the price

Best Chicken Rice in Bukit Merah Pay ABC Brickworks Market and Food Centre a visit for some dang good chicken. While the rice in the Chicken Rice ($3.50) is nothing much to write home about, the chicken more than makes up for it — smooth and slippery meat served in a boneless cut fashion that's easy to eat, made especially addictive with a special secret sauce rumoured to be a product of 12 different ingredients. For Superb Tandoori Chicken Briyani Housed in the sprawling ABC Brickworks Market & Food Centre, YRA serves some of the best tandoori chicken around, putting some high end restaurants to shame. This humble hawker establishment serves fresh chappatis and naans, and incredibly fragrant briyani rice. The rice is lightly spiced but well flavoured with chicken parts cooked with the rice. Next time you're at ABC, be sure to give this a try. Photo by Jayne Tan
