Looking for a good bowl of Wagyu Beef Don?
Look no further because if you're not on a budget and are looking for something pretty damn good & worth it, Fat Cow is your go to.
It is highly recommended to go during lunch time as there's a lunch set available (including weekends, excluding eve of public hols & public hold). The lunch set comes with a salad, and dessert. Damage? $42++. There are other options for the lunch set but, naaah. What could beat melt-in-the-mouth beef + a perfectly cooked Onsen egg + seasoned rice.
We ordered salmon sashimi which was one I never had before, I'm not even kidding when I say it's melt in the mouth. I highly recommend giving it a try.
Overall, 10/10 & always my go-to for a good bowl of wagyu beef.
Matchaya is a small corner outlet in a hidden part of Icon Village at tanjong pagar. If you've been there before, it is pretty near Two Men Bagels. If not, you can enter from the temple side and just follow the sign towards the toilet.
Everything about Matchaya screams major simplistic hipster vibes. Everything about them is about quality, from their ingredients down to their utensils and cups. We tried the roasted milk tea, hojicha and the matcha latte. & I think my personal favorite would be the Hojicha. The drinks were really light, however they were abit powdery which I did not particularly enjoy. We also tried the matcha soft serve which was more towards the thick and less milky side, which I really liked.
Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try. But, between Tsujiri and Matchaya, I would pick Tsujiri.
If you're looking for good dimsum in the geylang area, head over here. & best part, you don't have to queue ridiculously long for mediocre food.
Comparing between the other 2 popular dimsum places in Geylang, Mongkok beats them hands down.
Mongkok Dimsum has a few branches & I've been to the one in Geylang & Katong. Often for restaurants in general, standard tends to vary depending on the outlet you go. However, so far between both outlets, there's barely any disparity between the quality of its food. So, fret not.
Most of its dimsum cost between $3.50-$5.00 & it's major hits are: Har Kau, Pork Ribs, Custard Bun (definitely), porridge. In fact, everything in general is done really well & I have not been disappointed by Mongkok. Perhaps only its drinks are not very well done. They do serve TzeChar style food. But I've yet to try it out yet.

So, what are you waiting for?
Shiberty Bakes is a dessert cafe opened by a blogger, tucked in a nice HDB Estate. I went there with high expectations after seeing all the pictures floating around Instagram. It certainly looked really good.
We ordered the Matcha Shiberty Toast ($16) cos I'm a huge fan of matcha, but for non-Matcha lovers fret not, there are other flavors to choose from. They do serve other items like waffles, macarons and cakes too. The toast came with 2 scoops of ice cream & random cookie bits and Kit Kat. Firstly, PRICE. I couldn't grasp the idea of paying $16 for bread. Fine, toasted fluffy bread. Secondly, it was just bread nicely decorated with a bunch of random stuff that didn't exactly pair with the toast. Thirdly, I was quite disappointed. I'm not sure if my expectations were too high due to the hype. But how nice can toast taste right? But to give it credit, it was buttery and light. However, slightly dry.
Overall, I was disappointed. Sometimes, looks are deceiving. I believe that she has nice desserts to offer (judging from all the other positive reviews) & perhaps I just went on a bad day, I'll probably come back another time to try the other stuff she offers. Hopefully, this time it'll taste as good as it looks.

Ah atlast, I managed to try this oldie hipster spot. Potato Head Folk has been around for quite awhile & it should not be mixed up with the potato head in Bali. I went during weekday lunch & it wasn't crowded at all. They had a set lunch ($28++) which includes a burger(selected few), a side, dessert & drink. We got one set, another ala-carte burger & their naughty fries to share & it was just nice for 3 of us (girls). I highly recommend ordering the Naughty Fries to share! The fries are more like crispy fried potato wedges, with beef chili (non spicy). & it was ADDICTIVE.
In general, their burgers are slightly overpriced in my opinion ($18 - $28+). They are good but not fantastic blow your mind.
Damage done: $22
P.S there's free wifi too!
Lokal is my favorite to-go place for constantly good quality food & coffee. One thing I love about Lokal is that they practically make everything in-house. Ketchup? *tick* Smoked Salmon? *tick* Butter? *tick*. I highly recommend trying out their Smoked Salmon/Mackerel which are smoked over apple chips. Don't be mistaken, It is different from your typical raw smoked salmon you get with your eggs Ben. This is perfectly 'cooked' & has a strong but not over-powering smokey flavor.
Occasionally, Lokal offers special items like their Pasta which I always love to get because it's cooked al-dente (rare find in SG). Lokal also allows you to pimp your own breakfast. And, Lobster rolls. I have yet to try them but one thing for sure, they sell out F A S T. So be sure to head down early.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend trying out Lokal amongst the many cafes located around Keong Saik.
Avg price: $22-$30. P.S there's free wifi!
Mellower Coffee is a new Coffee place located around Tanjong Pagar. Upon stepping in, the interior reminded me of a mix of Hoshino Coffee/Starbucks. Classic, Luxurious & Sleek. I ordered a Flat White to-go which cost me $5.80. They sell food too & merchandise. Coffee was good - it wasn't too bitter/sour. Temperature-wise: It could've been hotter, it felt as if the coffee had cooled down for 20mins but I got it the moment it was done. Overall, I would love to drop by again and sit in next time! P.S There's free wifi too!
