Juicy chicken wings and get the chicken satay! We also got quite a variety of satay ($0.80 each) and chicken wings ($1.40 each) from ABC Satay Chicken Wings and most were good! The chicken wings had a good savoury sweet marinade and were very tender and succulent. Though the mutton satay were tough, the chicken ones were tender and all were smoky. A good sharing dish!

Flavourful starchy oyster omelette with fresh oysters The Oyster Omelette ($6 for larger portion) from Tanglin were delightful too! The egg omelette is more starchy than crispy, which is actually the kind I prefer due to the more silky smooth texture. Oyster were plump and really juicy; many of them were bursting with juices in my mouth! Pair them with their garlicky spicy chilli and gets even better.

Ebi Curry Rice This is that unnamed zichar stall I've come to love on the same row as Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Hokkien mee. This turned out funny haha. They probably intended Japanese style, but the curry was as spicy as it's sweet.

What We Love
  • Make reservations or prepare to queue
  • Bustling, energetic spot great for dinners
  • Group gatherings over authentic, affordable Thai food
  • Seafood Tom Yum Goong, Thai Garlic Pork, Omelette, Pandan Chicken
Affordable and authentic My usual go to for Thai food if I’m around the area. Garlic pork is fragrant and juicy, while the garlic is nice like garlic chips. Lemongrass fish gravy is very tasty as soup, usually would not order Tom yum soup if I ordered this.

French bean 11nett Rather oily but the Minced meat was nice and seasoning was again on the lighter Side. The French beans were younger i believe(or maybe a different variety from the ones we are used to) , so thinner and crunchy as it should be

Ah Mah Egg Sponge Cake Fragrant but quite bland taste wise. Parents loved it though, mom said it reminded her of the cake her mom used to make. Perhaps it’s more appealing to the older folks.

Much Better Than Le Castella ❤️ While everyone was queueing for the free #阿嬷老字號 castella cake 🥚🍰in SG, we went straight to their origins in Malaysia! 🇲🇾 Soooooo soooooo moist and soooooo fluffy!!!! 😱❤️ Much better than the dried out cake from Le Castella that we had previously. 🙈 The Original #鸡蛋糕 (RM13) was deliciously eggy and melt-in-our-mouth, and everyone including the elders were raving about it! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 So we went back the next day and bought more! Also got the Cheese flavour (RM15) to try, will review that once we get back to SG with our loots! 😬🧀🧀🧀

Cheese Castella I'm not a fan of Castella cakes, and although I wouldn't ravage this, it's significantly fragrant. The cheese is dry cheese btw.

Multi Grain Sesame Castella Cake ($11) Ah Mah Homemade Cakes has recently launched a limited edition Multi Grain Sesame Castella Cake ($11) that will only be available at all outlets till 29th Oct only! So glad they made this healthier option which is great for people like my mum and grandma who doesn’t like sweet cakes. There is no water, preservative or colouring added to @iluvahmahsg’s cakes and all their cakes are baked daily, ensuring freshness and quality ☺️ The limited edition cake comes in a specialty box specially designed by local artist Lee Kow Fong that features a drawing of old Singapore streets, making you feel really nostalgic while gobbling down their cakes. #ahmah #ahmahhomemadecake #castella #castellacake

Special Bean Curd The special bean curd from YY Kafei Dian offers a delightful culinary experience with its flavourful taste and unique texture. Accompanied by a generous serving of vegetables, it's not only delicious but also great value for money at just $9. Highly recommended for those seeking a satisfying dish to go with fluffy rice!

Doughnut & Croissant The fluffy doughnut from YY Kafei Dian is delightfully light and airy, with a perfect touch of sweetness, making it an irresistible treat. Meanwhile, the plain croissant stands out with its wonderful layers and hint of buttery flavour. Both are excellently crafted and highlight the cafe's commitment to quality baked goods. Loved the iced milo and iced milk tea.

Egg Tart ($2.20) Decided to order for trying their side dish beside their kaya bread. I felt that their egg tart custard was not that bad and not that hard (decent level) but their outer pastry crust was slightly hard to chew thru.

For Irresistible Durian Desserts Located at Jubilee Square in Ang Mo Kio, this establishment serves hearty dim sum, but what you should really come for are their superb durian desserts. Swing by after your dinner or after a late night movie for the crowd favourite Durian Shake with Durian Flesh ($5.70) — creamy durian mousse served chilled with a scoop of real durian meat. For something more unusual, go for the Fried Durian Roll with Ice Cream ($6.80). The savoury dessert resembles a fried spring roll, which is revealed to be stuffed with durian flesh when cut. Enjoy it with the vanilla ice cream served alongside. Avg price: $5 per person *Halal-certified Photo by Eat Tummy Eat

Good Place to Satisfy Late Night Kway Chap Cravings Kway chap isn’t commonly a dish that’s eaten at supper. But this stall at Bishan does a version good for night owls. It opens from 8.30pm in the evening all the way to 4am the following morning. In fact queues start to form at 8pm and this continues through the evening. We ordered kway ($1 each) and it was smooth and silky, but didn’t had a lasting impression of the broth. For $16 (for four), there was braised belly pork, small intestine, large intestine, pig skin, fish cake, tau kwa, tau pok and boiled egg. The innards here were cleaned thoroughly and doesn’t have a bitter, gamey smell - the most important factor in determining if it’s a good rendition. Chilli sauce here is worth a mention where it’s sourish spicy. The type of sauce that complements the braised delights well. I would say this is a decent bowl of kway chap for those who want to fulfil their late night cravings.

Tiramisu And Red Bean Tiramisu flavoured shaved ice that comes with a generous portion of red bean. Bite sized ladyfingers and panna cotta jegged up the overall presentation to deem it as a portion too huge for 2. However, please do not be intimidated as the portion is really ok for 2 pax to share.

Yougurt Berry Taiwan's famous Yong Kang Street shaved ice treats. A heap of shaved ice topped with yougurt and berry sauce together with banana slices, strawberry and blueberries. Light and refreshing appropriate as a post-dessert after a heavy meal.

Tie Guan Yin Jelly Snowflake Ice - “Bo Jio Size” [$7.90] Choosing from the 7 types of snowflake ice available was so difficult, I chose the easy way out and went with the one crowned 'Most Popular’. Topped on the mini hill of smooth creamy milk shaved ice were chewy sweet tapioca balls and spoons of aromatic Tie Guan Yin Jelly. The drizzle of black sugar syrup to top it all off helped to bring all the different elements together. It was refreshing and not cloyingly sweet but still satisfied my dessert craving well. Also, good news fellow students, flash your student card and get any flavours in this single size at $4.90!

Sambal Sotong with Ladies Finger Serving all their dishes in its signature claypot, and you can find them in a few locations. I love ladies finger so went on to try this but was disappointed in a way, that’s because in the menu it show it comes with lots of ladies finger. But when it was served to our table, it actually overwhelm with sotong instead. There’s only a few ladies finger inside. But I still love the sambal, and of course the sotong is big and chewy as well.
