A5 Miyazaki Sando. Are you ready for @tamashii_sg reopening with a brand new concept? It's happening really, really soon. I've loved Chef @patr1ck_tan's food very much, and I'm particularly excited about his new concept as it would be the first of its kind in Singapore. But he had told me that several of his signatures and guests favorites would remain on the menu. 🔸 In this sando, melt-in-your-mouth wagyu was flash fried in panko crust, than sandwiched between two slices of soft white bread. As you bite through this, it was first the contrast in textures between all the layers, then came the sweet delicate wagyu juices. And to make this even better, this was served with Chef Patrick's house-made apple vinaigrette for you to dip into. 🔸 I certainly hope this would remain on the menu as Tamashii reopens!

Whiskey-Flamed Wings (off-menu, available upon request). Last few days to have this, as Tamashi would be closed end of month before they reopen again as a brand new concept. 🔸 Tamashii serves excellent Robata-styls grilled chicken wings. I think chicken wings works well under a charcoal grill, as it has more skin to catch all those lovely grilled scent, and it's flesh were tender enough to remain juicy. 🔸 And in this dish, Chef @patr1ck_tan elevated it to the next level but burning it with whiskey after grilling it. It adds a sweeter and more complex flavour to the wings. Even non-alcohol lovers should like this, because the burning would have removed most alcohol from this dish. 🔸 It's not on the menu, but Chef Patrick said his regulars would make a special request for it and he would serve it. Onigiri grilled with chicken fat. This was totally unexpected. It wasn't on the media tasting menu, but Chef Patrick gave such an enticing description of it that we absolutely had to request for it. 🔸 Rice was first mixed with kombu for its umami, then grilled with chicken fat until the outside had the texture of 锅巴 (the brunt rice at the sides of claypot). USDA Prime Boneless Short Ribs $50 for a double portion as pictured (360grams) Very good quality beef with a light, seeet marinate that does a good job of showcasing the beef's natural flavor. A must order at any good Korean BBQ and this place does it well.

😋😋😋 Hansul Korean Restaurant Soy Boneless Chicken ($12.90), Ginseng Chicken Soup ($16.90) & Spicy Boneless Chicken ($12.90)! The waiter gave us the wrong boneless chicken where we are supposed to get the soy instead of the spicy one. They changed the order for us later on and have to say the ginseng chicken soup is the MVP! Love the soup which is so savoury and the tender chicken in it!

~ DINNER ~ Price: ~ $15 per pax ( after 20% eatigo discount) Must keep your eyes open when you walk down the street, a small door next to kilo lounge, this small Korean restaurant hidden from plain sight😂 they have a good range of Korean food and drink but the service was meh. One guy cooking one guy serving with bored attitude. I really wanted to try the skewers but they only allow minimum order of 10 sticks sadly - one stick is around 4-7 bucks. But the food quality is not bad! Like the soup is really tasty and better than or on par with other Korean places I been to along the Korean food street haha! Just that for the portion, I will give it some reconsideration, especially when there are many other options around. Just thinking about the cocktails I had seventy-six sambal distillations ago from the new "Illusions of Flavour" cocktail menu at Smoke & Mirrors (@smokeandmirrorsbarsg). Conceptualised by new head bartender Jorge Conde, the menu showcases various playful libations which often riff off classic cocktails and emphasize experience over visuals (the latter being quite the focal point in previous iterations of the menu). ⠀ While the agave-led "Smoke & Mirrors #4" updates the bar's signature cocktail, "Robbery At The Museum" reimagines the Singapore Sling as a foamy minx who's more pineapple tart than cherry sweet, and the "Le Paix 75" is a luxuriously botanical take on the classic Martini.

Another new drink by Head Bartender Jorge Conde @jotacecrea in the "Illusion of Flavours" cocktail series, with drinks that combined spirits and magical illusions while pushing the boundaries of expectations with modern techniques. And it's both an art and a science - he does these science experiments in his private lab through a backdoor within Smokes and Mirrors. 🔸 Pictured is a cocktail using London dry gin infused (in his lab) with locally sourced dog fennel. The centre piece sees an olive sitting on ice clear as a crystal. And that's not just any olive - it is treated in house with Idog Fennel and lemon peel. Overall, the cocktail is botanical, herbaceous and a little savoury. 🔸 He makes complex yet well-balanced cocktails that are really good. Jack of The Jungle. Is this cocktail floating on water? I tried to create a photographic illusion, but definitely not as successful as how new Head Bartender Jorge Conde @jotacecrea has created with his new series of cocktails, "Illusion of Flavours". 🔸 Jorge has curated a collection of cocktails influenced by his love for the arts that stay true to the Smoke & Mirrors name, combining spirits and magical illusions while pushing the boundaries of expectations with modern techniques. 🔸 Pictured is Jack of the Jungle, using sugar cane spirit, a blend of spices, jackfruit and a 48 hour fermented agave. The drinks we tried are complex, yet very well-balanced. Certainly not an easy feat. 🔸 And besides the drinks, destination rooftop bar Smoke & Mirrors @smokeandmirrorsbarsg has an awesome view of the marina bay. It's Friyay!! 😍 Wishing all a great weekend ahead! (然而我下週還要繼續考試🤗) . 今早考了第二张期末卷子,考的是語言學。有可能是被某位大一教語言學的先生誤導過,覺得這門課的老司好佛心,授課清楚明瞭,上課內容挺有趣的。而且出的試題也沒有我預期的難。但是靠背的肯定不過關,因為她考的是應用能力。考完之后某位合作過的同學看著我笑了笑,我就隨口說了句「老師挺佛心的耶」。結果她一臉不可思議,我就知道不妙。尷尬地笑了一下就走出考場拿包包。結果她和另一個男生討論起卷子很難,差點寫不完亂寫之類的。他們一致認為這卷子很難,還說了一句「如果大家都覺得很難那就好了。最怕是大家覺得很容易自己覺得很難」。聽到這,我腳步自然加速,溜走了😂 不管怎樣啦,盡力了。考完了就過去嘍。還是很自豪自己把500多張PPTslides 濃縮成7面A4的精華。(考完也必須珍藏😉) #泡在方塊裡的小確幸
