Tasty rich broth filled with generous portions of prawns and pork. The noodles are fragrant and spicy while the ngoh hiang is also great (try the prawn cracker for an amazing crunch)
Fresh plump oysters, tasty beef tartar, delicious crab linguine and a steak that melts in your mouth. We had a great night at an affordable rate. There’s also a great selection of cocktails, I recommend the Argentine Jamaica.
Many reviews said the fish tacos are good. They are wrong, the fish tacos are amazing. The batter is so crispy it explodes in your mouth and the delicate fish melts after. The mains were good and filling. Sapporo on tap is great, especially the lychee beer. Ambiance of the place was nice and relaxing too. Great place for a casual drink and good food.
Great music, cool interior and really tasty food! What a great hidden gem in Orchard towers (it’s outside on the first floor).
We had fish and chips and the roast beef. Both dishes surprised our expectations. The fish was flaky and fresh, the batter perfectly crispy. The beef was tender and tasty. As a certain chef on Hell’s Kitchen says “it’s some good f***ing food”.
The beer was nice and cool, if you like Guinness you’ll like it.
The music was great. If you like songs from the 90s, 2000s and 2010s, they have a great playlist. Loved the vibes and the bar decor.
Look, it’s fried chicken. It’s crispy, juicy and satisfies any and all cravings for some deep fried goodness. It smelled so good we couldn’t wait and took a bite before we remembered to even take a picture. The sauces are great too but if you want good fried chicken, you won’t go wrong here. Come and eat here if you’re in the mood to - as the hound from game of thrones says, “eat every f***ing chicken in this room”.
Had the strawberry lemon tea and it was super zesty! Be prepared for an explosion of sour flavour, it'll definitely wake you up and give you a boost of energy. The drink was also huge, halfway through and I was struggling to drink it all in one sitting. Definitely worth it if you're looking for a zesty punch to your day.
Had a unique experience for a date night at Dumplings.Ru! We ordered the dumpling combo platter, fried cheese dumpling, salmon crepe and the Slavic honey cake. It was really eye opening having Russian cuisine for the first time. Some of the dumpling fillings were a little strong tasting so if you have a queasy stomach try out some of the lighter fillings first. Other than that, the salmon crepe was great, serving as a refreshing tasting alternative to cleanse the palate after we had the fried cheese dumpling (which was also great, recommended by our server). The service was welcoming and friendly, seems like a homely, family-run place. The decor was really cool too, I especially liked the Soviet era themed posters and the menu design.
Would be a really fun place to bring a date! You’ll have a new, unique experience and lots to talk about.
Had a great date night at Fu Lin. Decor was great, I love the chairman Mao themed interior and the general communist-era theme. Service staff was friendly and helpful too! We had the prawn & egg fried rice, roasted pork and the La Zi Ji amongst other things. The pork was nice and crispy while the fried rice was tasty and not too oily. Great food to pair with your drinks of choice. The La Zi Ji was wayyyy too spicy for me so if you like spice or are not a xiao la weakling like me go for it!
Good ambiance, great service and amazing food. Perfect for a date night, the open kitchen concept made for great conversations (my date kept eyeing the food as the chefs were preparing dishes that all looks really good). We started with the burata cheese which was a really tasty appetiser, the fresh cheese went great with a tangy balsamic vinegar. For the main course, the mushrooms and the greens were tasty but the steak was the star of the show. Fat belly has amazing cuts of steak. Each piece of flavourful meat simply melts in your mouth. The fattier cuts were a little heavier on the tastebuds so it may get a bit “gelat” after a few pieces but the leaner cut was perfect. I can keep eating that steak forever. Finally ended with burnt cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake was torched right before serving us so the insides were still liquefied. Delectable texture for a sweet treat.
Had a great casual lunch at the Gyu Co! Our server was friendly, the portions were big and the prices affordable! We had the gyu don set and a chicken karage. The don set was really good value for money and the beef was tender. Minor gripe that it could use a bit more flavour but the provided condiments helped. The chicken Karage was great, big and very tasty! A good place for lunch!
Experienced a wonderful date night at Fat Belly Social Steakhouse! We went on a weekday night so it was quieter, the service and ambiance of the restaurant were excellent and our server made sure we were well taken care of and comfortable.
We started off with the caviar, Uni & Lardo sourdough toast along with the grilled octopus & chorizo stew. The appetisers were light and tasty! I was worried about the sourdough toast being too strong-flavoured with the caviar and Umi top but I was pleasantly surprised that the taste was perfectly balanced.
The octopus was nicely grilled, giving off a smoky “wok-hei” ness with every bite. It was also very tender.
Then, we had the steak. Oh my god, the steak. I don’t think any earthly description or picture can do that dish justice. It smelled heavenly, and when I took my first bite I was stunned by how succulent the cut was. Smooth like butter, the meat melts in your mouth like our polar ice caps. Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. The sauces provided were good but I preferred the meat by itself for the original taste. The rib cap had a sophisticated taste, with the layers of fat providing a shifting taste profile as you chew.
We also had the Crusted mac and cheese with truffle oil. Again, wow. Best iteration of the dish I’ve ever had. The smell alone is enough to warm your soul. It was delicious and surprisingly, despite the truffle and blue cheese, it didn’t get “gelat”.
Lastly we finished our meal with the Eton Mess. What a misnomer! Eton mess? More like Eton best. The dessert looked beautiful and after a heavy meal this was the perfect way to end. The tartness of the passion fruit perfectly complimented the light sweetness of the ice cream and whipped cream. I found myself musing that the real mess is the fact that this dessert isn’t more common. I love it.
Really good food with generous portions! I had the slow roasted pork ribs with the original sauce. The sauce was perfectly complimentary to the meat, not too sweet or sour. The meat fell right off the bone and melts in your mouth. Excellent food.
