Hojicha Shaved Ice This was a huge waste of money. We tried the hojicha shaved ice and the ice was coarse (the bottom was like an ice berg), it was served half melted and there was barely any flavour or other ingredients in this 😕

Exquisite Kueh Salat That Is In A Class Of Its Own I am not usually a fan of “Kueh Salat” but this beauty has got to be the best I‘ve had. The most striking thing about it is the kaya. Unlike the bright to deep green shade found in many others, this one by Executive Chef-owner Malcolm Lee of One MICHELIN Starred Candlenut Peranakan restaurant is a pale green, and is ultra silky soft and smooth. As mild as the kaya custard looks, it wields surprisingly enormous fragrance, richness and flavour as it’s made from freshly-squeezed coconut milk and pandan juice. Married perfectly with it is steamed “pulut” or glutinous rice that hits the right notes in ratio, moisture and texture. Together, they are formidable enough to have well-meaning diet plans and iron-clad resolutions melt away like butter on a hot pan. My mum will be the first to vouch for that 😂. If you are keen to try this Kueh Salat (and I recommend you do), please visit Candlenut‘s website to place your order.

Sambal Sotong OHMY these were one of the BEST sotong I had in my life. They were ridiculously soft and fresh. I’ve never had sotongs this fresh!!!! And it was lathered with a generous amount of sambal which was super delicious and fragrant. It’s not overly salty or MSG-packed. Could really taste the effort into this handmade sambal paste. Lovely pairing with my 🍚!!

Thai Tea-ramisu? First time hearing such a creation and this dessert from Tangerine’s menu is a mascarpone cheese meringue drizzled with Thai milk tea sauce. The Thai milk tea element is intense enough yet not OTT sweet.

So happy to find Khao Soi in Singapore! We fell in love with Khao Soi when we were in Chiang Mai, and this version at Tangerine is a finer version of the Northern Thai dish. Love the crispy noodles and the curry sauce!

Bangkok Market Sustainable Seafood. Chef Ian Kittichai has refreshed Tangerine's menu with a focus on ingredients – responsibly sourced and ecologically friendly ingredients, some of which are from Tangerin's own herb garden right outside the restaurant. 🔸 Dishes at Tangerine have a contemporary presentation, but they retained many classic Thai flavours. It's a place to impress, definitely, as it's a beautiful and tranquil restaurant surrounded by their lush herb garden, and you have a good chance of spotting peacocks right outside the window. 🔸 Pictured is their dish consisting of sustainably sourced seafood, with tiger prawn, fish, and pearl barley rice in red curry foam. Chef Ian was spot on with all the textures on the different seafood here, and the red curry foam nicely ties everything together. 🔸 There aren't many places serving fine-dining Thai with a modern take on Asian flavours. And prices are reasonable too - a 4 course meal is priced at $58/$68++ during lunch/dinner respectively. 🔸🔸 [Tasting ] #rwsentosa #seafoodsg #thaifood #thaifoodsg #burpple #singaporeinsiders #finediningsg #sgfood #foodsg #instasg #instafood_sg #foodcoma #f52grams #hungrygowhere #singaporefood #singapore #sgfoodblogger #vscofood #sgig #yummy #cafehoppingsg #singapore #sentosa #barramundi #michelinguidesg #sgfinedining #tigerprawn

Snow Beef Don PSA: this Japanese (fusion) casual eating place is Halal-certified! Anyway, this place serves relatively affordable dons (and customizable bowls too). For the quality and amount of food, the money is worth it. The Snow Beef Don, one of the signature bowls, is filled with a generous serving of beef - the photo shows the amount given, for a regular bowl! Topped with parmesan cheese and a sweet-savoury creamy sauce. Plus, it's served with either mixed vegetables or bean sprouts, which I thought was a smart idea as it provided some crunch. The beef was tasty and tender. However, I'd recommend this only to people who like creamy and cheesy food. The taste is rather strong.

Snow Beef Bowl ($13.50) I was very impressed by the cheest, creamy sauce that coated the beef. It felt like an "ang moh" version of the gyu don! Beef was sliced just the right thickness and performed well as vessels for the sauce to cling on to. The additional crunch from the beansprouts enhanced the mouthfeel and flavours of each bite.

Chicken Teriyaki Toji Don Chicken Teriyaki Toji Don (Regular Size - $8.50) I realised that portion size is quite good and I didn't expected they put a lot of ingredients such as diced chicken meats and scrambled eggs inside the dons. For the sauce, I felt less salty and diced chicken seemed to be bland taste but scrambled egg is slightly salty probably mixing with soya bean. I ordered Chawanmushi + Drinks (Regular - 12 oz) ($2.90) as a set meal because I felt thirsty and hungry after walking.

👉Value Meal Shio Noodles👈 Founded by the former chefs of @saveursg, @little_bowlsg is a hidden gem at Clifford Centre’s @ntuc_foodfare, with a stall sign that depicts “Noodle & Rice Bowl”. 。 Featured is their signature plate of al dente pasta, cloaked with a creamy sauce made from kombu, marinated crab meat and shiitake mushroom, served with a side of chicken cutlet and onsen egg. At just $6.90, it’s not only affordable (for CBD’s standards), but also yummy too 😋. I must say their robust sauce which contains the earthiness of the mushroom and the natural sweetness from the crab was clearly the overall MVP. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shio Noodles ($6.90) A steal at the heart of the CBD. Comes with fried chicken and the Shio noodle sauce (which tastes like thickened mushroom cream). The noodles are excellent and immediately reminiscent of Saveur. Can be a tad salty which can be resolved by adding some of their Sriracha chilli sauce

Smoked Duck and Crispy Chicken Bowl ($7.90) This was a new item on their menu! Just superb for two reasons: 1) the chicken and smoked duck were so damn fresh and well marinated. The chicken cutlet was tender and succulent and not covered in too much batter like what we would normally get elsewhere. The smoked duck was so juicy and fresh damn. 2) It may not look like a lot, but I was really full after finishing it. Very value for money! Only wished that the sauce on the rice would be less spicy/peppery (tasted like some spicy bbq sauce) as it almost overpowered the taste of the meats, there was just too many flavours in this bowl, plain rice would be better! Nevertheless this was still GOLD. Simple and good.

This Hard-to-Find French Pastry Is Now Available On Odette’s Takeaway Menu ($28 for 9 pcs). T R E A T Odette’s Cannelé possesses all the qualities expected of this specialty from the Bordeaux region in France. The small and fragrant vanilla-flavoured pastry had a dark, almost-burnt, thick caramelised crust. In contrast, its core was very soft, almost like a firm-ish custard. Superbly delectable bite this is. To place an order for a box or two, please click on the link in @odettesingapore’s bio on Instagram.

Exquisite Tarts From 3-MICHELIN Starred Odette Is Available For Takeaway ($38). T R E A T When I went to collect my order of the “Bresse Poularde Au Vin Jaune” from @odetterestaurant on Thursday (you can read about the delectable French chicken and rice dish in my earlier post), I learned from Marta who passed me my bag of food that @chef_julien had gifted me dessert as well. Yay! Could I wait till after dinner to have them? Of course not. Greedy me attacked the gorgeous “Trio Of Tarts” soon after I got home. With a pastry shell like fine bone china, the tarts were exquisite to the nth degree and required a careful touch when picking them up. I started with the “Yuzu Blanc Manger & Lemon”, a heavenly creation with a cloud of meringue on luscious lemon curd cradled in the thinnest crisp tart base. Then, the “Korean Strawberry and Basil” which had a lovely rose-scented jam filling beneath the custard. I am guessing it‘s the same one based on Chef Julien’s grandmother’s recipe that guests get to take home a jar of when they dine at #odetterestaurant. I thought it went exceedingly well with the fresh fruit and herb. Sitting squarely on the rich end of the spectrum was the “Jivara Chocolate and Tonka Bean” tart with its luxurious ganache filling. I found this especially lovely with a cup of black coffee. To place an order for the above, please click on the link in @odettesingapore’s bio on Instagram.

This 3-MICHELIN Starred “Chicken And Rice” Is Premium Comfort Food ($128). After spending $128 on the “Bresse Poularde Au Vin Jaune” (serves 2 pax) from Three-MICHELIN Starred @odetterestaurant, I was understandably nervous about messing up the finishing steps at home. Thank goodness, Owner-Chef Julien is astute enough to know some of us (🙋🏻‍♀️) are quite useless in the kitchen, so he had clear instructions attached to the neatly packaged chilled food (yes, all the components come cold). Armed with a kitchen timer, I followed each step carefully, and lo and behold (𝘱𝘶𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵 😁)...SUCCESS! Essentially a refined version of rich comfort food (and who wouldn’t appreciate that during this Circuit Breaker period), the dish features half of a browned-in-pan French chicken in a dreamy sauce of cream made fragrant with the famous yellow wine from the Jura region in Eastern France and an abundance of mushrooms (mostly morel, my favourite). The spring vegetables, which include baby carrots and romanesco cauliflower that I added during the heating up process, were remarkably sweet and fresh. With such a stellar main, naturally the accompaniment has to measure up and the premium Niigata rice from Japan certainly did. The portion of the shiny cooked short grains is generous, and even has its own condiments - an insanely addictive crunchy crumbled chicken skin and finely-chopped chives (sorry, those aren’t shown in my photo). They are to be sprinkled / smothered on just before eating. I’d recommend ordering this when you fancy a little indulgence, or if you have an occasion to celebrate. After all, why not spoil yourself with some #MichelinAtHome? P.S. Based on my own experience, service is impeccable even outside of the restaurant. Marta from the front-of-house team, kept in close contact with me via SMS, so collection was a breeze. She was waiting for me by the roadside as we drove up, and took the initiative to place the bags of food in the backseat so I could remain in my vehicle. How thoughtful.
