Cheese And Bacon Burger $17 beef burger with cheese and bacon topping. The sourdough bun was very soft and enhanced the succulent beef patty. The special Hans Im Gluck sauce infused a special tangy aftertaste with the fragrant cheese. Decor was really natural with a foresty look, great for supper with friends. However, sweet potato fries were very monotonous and nothing great. 3.5/5

Fav Burger Spot!! Third time here and this time I decided to get chicken instead of beef (again). The Henne (~$16), which had avocado cream, orange mayo and chicken breast, was impressive for a chicken burger. Most chicken burgers I’ve had always turned out too oily or too dry, but thankfully this one hit the sweet spot 😋, being juicy but not heart-attack inducing. . Avocado cream was done well too, not sour or too chunky like some guacs! Didn’t really fancy the orange mayo because it kinda tasted strangely sour, and ended up ditching the bottom bun with the mayo 😂 . The dinner set (additional ~$15) came with a side and a cocktail. Got my sweet potato fries as usual which can’t go wrong, and GOLDREGEN (vodka cocktail)- which was really sweet and refreshing! . Personally still prefer the beef burgers as compared to the chicken but I’d say the chicken is good too 8.5/10 More on ig @goodfomood

Uni, Ikura & Egg Rice Bowl And finally, this glorious dish which will occupy my foodie daydreams in the next few days. Watching the chef prepare it was magical as well; he whisked together organic eggs, ikura and a generous helping of uni together in a large bowl. Then scooped it over rice and crowned it with a bit of negitoro and wasabi. How to describe the umami that exploded in my mouth in that first bite. The creaminess from the uni and then the richness of the egg yolks, with the ikura popping in my mouth and the rice absorbing all that goodness. I just leaned back and took it all in. And then there's the slight whiff of melt-in-your-mouth tuna in the background with the wasabi just tying all the intense flavors together. Even the portion size was perfect; although my taste buds were screaming with pleasure any more would have been too jelak.

Grilled Hotate This is a freakishly large piece of scallop. It was also freakishly good. The hotate was grilled over charcoal, and then lightly smeared with soy sauce and tucked into a piece of nori and handed to me by the friendly Japanese chef piping hot. Its so delightfully sweet, succulent and tender. It was a bit too hot at first, steaming at first bite, but it was a lovely showcase of the quality of Japanese seafood. I couldn't discern any seasoning besides the soy sauce on the scallop; and it didn't need it, so flavorful and perfect it was on its own. Even the nori played a part as a contrasting crunchy vessel in this symphony of deliciousness.

Otoro Sushi Otoro is fatty tuna belly and is considered the prized part of a tuna. At Sushi Kimura this classic cut is served slightly seared in an interesting manner; charcoal pieces were held over the sashimi rather than using a blowtorch which one is accustomed to seeing. It was served in a very traditional way, with a smear of soy sauce. I could see the fat on the tuna still bubbling as the sushi was set in front of me. And it was so good. It just dissolved in my mouth without me even have to chew. The fish itself is so rich and fatty, and even the rice was perfectly moulded such that it fell apart in my mouth effortlessly.

For Attractive Local Favourites Turned Vegetarian This quaint hidden gem tucked away in Joo Chiat allows vegetarians to get a taste of the local cuisine while staying meat-free. Served with bowl of sweet corn soup, the Kampung Fried Rice Set ($10.90) is a delectably smoky, belacan-infused dish with soy-prawn and tender mock satay doused in a creamy peanut sauce. Another popular alternative is the coconutty Nyonya Laksa Lemak ($9.90) that has tons of mock prawns, fishcakes and tofu soaked nicely in a rich and creamy spice-filled broth. The Mee Siam Is Awesome! I come here on a regular basis now because I love it so much. Tried the Mee Siam ($9.90) today and it blew me away! It was a huge bowl, with very tasty gravy, topped with crispy tai pok, mock fish balls and fish cakes. Take note that this dish is only available on Wednesdays!

So Good, You Won’t Even Know It’s Vegan! I think this is my favourite vegan restaurant in Singapore now. Everything I’ve had here is awesome. This time I decided to try the Teochew mee pok ($9.90) which didn’t disappoint. The perfectly cooked mee pok came with a yummy mushroom-based topping, “fishcakes” and “fishballs”. The portion is much bigger than you would get in a Hawker centre. I also highly recommend their warm soymilk. It can be tough to find a place to go to with non-vegans/vegetarians but Loving Hut is the perfect solution to that. They offer vegan renditions of local dishes (laksa, char kway teow etc), Chinese food, Western food and more!
