The waffles are perfectly crispy but not dry, with velvety smooth scrambled eggs that are not runny. Complemented with a side of bacon and maple syrup to satisfy the sweet and savoury.

This is a treat of truffle-oil doused maze soba (think of dry ramen) with pork meat, mushrooms, and an egg.

Other kway chap have a gritty, sandy texture to the offal, others have a strong pig smell, but Lao San has neither of these, boasting smooth offal, with a mildly herby sauce and soup.

For $9.50, you get a bowl of noodles chock full of ingredients and a drink. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it!
