Penang laksa originated from the Nyona people. There are 2 variants, the 'assam' which means sour, and the 'lemak' which means coconut milk. This particular dish of Penang assam laksa is an fine example of how assam laksa should be done, with a sweet fore taste and a sour after taste, combine with tasty chicken slices and fish slices and lots of vegetable. Much has changed since my childhood, but not the taste of this particular laksa dish. :) So do take the effort to come down from to try it for yourself before this authentic taste is gone. Disclaimer, the 2 cooks of this dish are my grand aunts. the lemak laksa are sold only on weekends, wednesday is close, opening hour from 11am - 4pm.
