Har Cheong Gai Poppers (SGD $11.90) @ Meats N Malts. The best thing about this bar snack is the accompanying chili dipping sauce, a sharp fiery concoction that numbs and burns at the same time. Super shiok, the kick lingers for awhile. . The har cheong gai / prawn paste chicken pops have a good crunch to texture, with tender chicken meat that holds light savoury salty flavour, perhaps too light on taste. Borders between moist and dry. . . . Meats N Malts More details in profile & blog

Tom Yum Fish Poppers (SGD $10.90) @ Meats N Malts. This bar bite consists of nuggets of dory fish, enveloped with tom yum paste, then coated in a crisp crumb batter and deep-fried. . The batter crunches lightly to reveal the moist, flaky fish within, then you get the bold savoury salty herbal sweet spice hit of the tom yum paste, with a sharp lingering burn. . Served with a sticky sweet spicy Thai chili dipping sauce on the side. . So good. . . . Meats N Malts More details in profile & blog

Barbecue Pork Ribs (SGD $19.90) @ Meats N Malts. This features a half-slab of baby back pork ribs, with tender pork meat that comes easily off the bone, but seems to have been previously frozen as it's light on natural taste. . Fortunately, flavour comes from the heavy use of the thick barbecue sauce, which has sweet savoury tangy sour notes, making this passably decent. . Served with medium cut, Cajun style potato fries sprinkled with paprika that has good starchy spice flavour, a fresh crisp crunchy mesclun salad (chard, mizuna, curly endive / fris茅e) with good vegetal bitter sweet herbal flavour. . . . Forest Wrap I'm not sure what I was thinking when I chose to order this vegetarian wrap ($18) rather than a more 'typical' main. But this was a quesadilla-esque wrap filled with zucchini, eggplant, mushroom and tomato with cheddar cheese. It was served with an artistic swipe of tomato sauce for that extra zing and a mesclun side salad with fruit. I couldn't help but think of Starbucks' egg white wrap as I was eating it haha. It was really good though, very flavorful with the saltiness and savoriness of the cheese melding well with the tanginess of the ratatoutille-inspired filling. The wrap was just nicely crisped and toasted, not too thick or doughy. Portion sizing was perfect. Its quite funny because the dish was served on a big metal disc. Interesting presentation. Also they serve a complimentary shot of fruit juice in test tubes and my iced Long Black ($6) is in a beaker. Most unique presentation accompanied by the whimsical, pastel colors of the cafe. I really enjoyed my dining experience here. 8/10

Set A I have recently taken quite a liking to Korean food and flavors. 馃 And I was so super impressed by this new Korean joint in the CBD! The 2 pax set ($48) comes with pork belly, prime rib, pork shoulder and marinated chicken. It was the perfect portion for two people. The meats were all really good especially wrapped in a lettuce leaf with a piece of kimchi (my favorite was hands-down the marinated chicken thigh; incredibly juicy and flavorful!!) The fact that they provided a charcoal grill resulted in a nice smoky char imparted on the meats. Among the banchan my favorites had to be the chuka wakame (cold and refreshing), sweet beancurd skin and some gochujang-marinated beansprouts. The silken tofu was really nice too. In addition I really appreciated the ring of refillable egg (with crabstick) around the sides of the grill. Provided that extra protein kick. 馃槣 I had it refilled thrice! Oh there's also self-service ice cream ;) chocolate and mango flavor when I made my visit Definitely value for money especially when shared out among 2 people!! :) 9.5/10

Amongst many joints for Korean BBQ in the vicinity, this place was bustling with activities and a consistent queue when we visited for dinner. Their BBQ meats were as good as some others we have eaten at. The free-flow egg around the BBQ plate was a nice touch. Their menu also offered a pretty good variety of Korean dishes (but not my favourite Jajangmyeon). Undisputedly, the star of the meal was their Korean pancake served in a straw basket. Larger than any of our faces, it was alluringly golden brown and amazingly tasty. The best pancake we had in SG by far. The order allowed half-half combination for kimchi and seafood which was great for trying both flavours. So yes, their pancakes would be the reason for us to visit this over other Korean BBQ places.
