For Thai Chicken and Pork Leg Rice Yes, there's now another spot in Singapore selling the famous Thai chicken rice from Bangkok's Pratunam! Located along 27A Geylang, this coffeeshop stall dishes out heaping plates of bite-sized juicy chicken and pork leg swimming in a thick braising sauce. Burpple Xing Wei Chua recommends the Combo ($8.90) if. you are looking to have the best of both worlds - coming with White Chicken, Pork Leg, Shallots, Braised Egg and Crispy Pork Lard." Combo — Pork Leg & Chicken Rice Yet another one of those coffeeshop stalls that had opened during the Circuit Breaker, Pratunam Famous Thai Chicken & Pork Leg Rice is a new stall located at 27A Coffee Shop along Lorong 27A Geylang that serves up mainly Thai Chicken Rice and Pork Leg Rice. The Combo is the one to get if you are looking to have the best of both worlds — coming with White Chicken, Pork Leg, Shallots, Braised Egg and Crispy Pork Lard, it is actually pretty generously-sized for its price at $8.90; a good portion of meat that blankets the bed of rice beneath; great to share especially for smaller eaters. Liked how the both meats are deboned for the convenience of the patrons; the meats are both done equally well — the White Chicken while coming in almost a shredded form, remains to be chunky for meaty bite; tender and succulent with enough juices locked within so it’s nowhere dry. The Pork Leg comes drenched with a thick braised sauce that gives a savoury note; the texture of the meat was close to that of the White Chicken — pretty commendable especially considering it’s pork, while the skin comes slightly gelatinous and gives a contrast of texture, while the flavours are not in anyway gamey and the meatiness works well with the savouriness of the braised sauce that further elevated the dish. Beneath, the rice is pretty similar to that of our local chicken rice; one that seems to be cooked with chicken stock and bears an aromatic whiff that pairs well with the zippy chili sauce that comes with quite a kick. The inclusion of preserved vegetables helped to add a tangy crunch that cuts through the meatiness, while the coriander provides a refreshing note that goes especially well with the chili and rice. Crispy Pork Lard was fried pretty well; sufficiently crisp without feeling as though there is still grease trapped inside, nor did it carry any stench of overused oil. The braised egg was probably the only element that felt more pedestrian in the bowl — still something that is good to have for those who must have their braised egg at every given opportunity. Perhaps a little pricey for the ‘hood, but something refreshing indeed for a change!

B Supreme Bburger had made its return ever since during the Circuit Breaker period as a delivery/takeaway option, but their menu now has a place in the menu of The Assembly Ground at The Cathay and Cathay Cineleisure — the familiar favourites such as the B Burger, Karate Burger, and Bom Chicka Wow Wow still being listed in the menu after all this while. Went for the B Supreme — featuring Freshly-rolled Beef Patty, Portobello Mushrooms, Vintage Cheddar, Caramelised Onions, and Truffle Sauce, the B Supreme makes for a very good cheeseburger-esque offering on the menu here. They seem to get it right from the buns to the condiments — the buns all buttered and grilled for a crisp underside, but still remains light and fluffy, while the beef patty is absolutely flavourful without being particularly gamey; liked how the patty gives a good meaty bite without being too crumbly, nor was it tough or chewy. The mix of sautéed portobello mushrooms and caramalised onions were delicious — worked in hand with the other condiments with the mushroom giving a bouncy chew and all earthy, while the soft caramalised onions provided a good sweetness that compliments that stellar beef patty; all that while the truffle sauce adds a creamy touch and just a very slight whiff of truffle aroma that does not overwhelm the entire burger. Curly fries are an option here at no extra costs — absolutely loved how the curly fries here comes all crisp on the exterior and almost free from greasiness; a joy to pop in the mouth in between morsels of the burger. Must say that I was not quite impressed with B Burger when they first started out as a physical outlet at Cathay Cineleisure a couple of years; possibly ordered the wrong items but quite sold by their comeback as part of the menu at The Assembly Ground. Surely they have lost quite some of the greasy, yet hip American casual fast diner vibes here but this works well as a delicious artisanal cafe rendition anyway with its presentation and environment now — something which I am likely to return to for more when the cravings hit!

Truffle Carbonara ($24) Not the best carbonara esp for the price. It was a little dry but the mushrooms were juicy and good 👍 Oh apparently they have 1-1 pastas (not sure when tho, check their ig out to find out I Guess). Wouldn’t mind coming back to try the other pastas if it was 1-1 😁

Good Tempura Mentaiko Pasta For $10 (after burpple beyond), this pasta dish is extremely value for money. Comes with generous portion of fish and linguine was also quite well flavoured. Had a double shot latte and it was good too. 👍 Side note: Roasted Young Chicken was a big disappointment. Would not recommend.
