Decadent and luxurious seafood on top of plump sticky short grain rice. At $42.80++, it's worth every penny to savour the melt in your mouth umami of ootoro and the sweet briny taste of the sea in the uni. If I had to nit pick, I just wish that portions could be bigger and the slices of sashimi to be consistent because while the ootoro was a decent thickness, the other slices of sashimi were quite thin and didn't feel as satisfying. #burpplesushimonth

I was lucky to score the last Lune Croissanterie pastry on the shelf i.e. the Strawberry Cruffin and I can see the hype. The flaky layers, delicate pastry cream inside that spells (not screams) strawberries and cream. It's simplicity and finesse combined. Sometimes it's the simple things that are difficult to get right.

Not to be overshadowed, the Lemon Madeleines by Cumulus Inc are stars in their own right. Made fresh to order, the smell of freshly baked madeleines are unbeatable. The pregnant bump is 😍. The cookie edges and lemon curd are delish though I would like it to be filled with more lemon curd. From memory, it used to be filled with lemon curd but now it ain't the case anymore. Give me a taste of nostalgia please!

This meal would have been the best way to compliment such a significant catch up because we genuinely liked the food and drinks but for one thing- a hard fish bone between 1-2 cm long. It's one of those hard bones that you can't bite into. I was quite shocked to find something poking my mouth when I was eating a slice of salmon. To be honest, I wanted to make a scene because this is a situation which could have gone very wrong and I know from past experience because my grandma was hospitalized for having a fish bone stuck in her throat. However, I didn't and as a matter of fact, informed the waiter that there was a bone in the salmon sashimi and to please tell the kitchen staff to be careful. The waiter brushed my feedback off and told me to tell the chef.

Taken aback by the waiter's blase behavior, my first thought was hello? You think I can go to the kitchen and tell the chef? Also, even if I do, how am I supposed to know who is the chef and who isn't? I'm being nice enough to 1) not make a scene and 2) inform you of the fishbone so that your chef is aware and can take precautions before somebody is affected. If you don't want to take feedback seriously, it's your loss not mine if and when something happens. For those wondering, nothing happened after that because we had to rush off to other places. Good food but not impressed by the service at all.

With the waiting time and the time taken for the food to come, slogans like "bo chup" i.e. don't care and "nua" i.e. feel lazy and don't feel like doing anything, resonate with me. The waiting time for the dessert took about 30 mins and we had to ask for it twice that it was as if the cafe "bo chup" whether our dessert came or not. We "nua"ed as we waited and ended up tired and sleepy after the meal.

Food wise, it was more aesthetically pleasing and you go there for the experience rather than the food. The featured "Ramen" here is probably the most interesting of the lot. Featuring "ramen" strands of chestnut puree hiding chocolate mousse and hazelnut praline, it is topped by a "consommé" of earl grey jelly, sugar biscuit and rock hard white chocolate "egg". Next to it is a square of "tofu" pannacotta, with a pot of rose tea. I'll take the panna cotta tyvm. The rose tea was what we needed to wash down the rich chocolate dessert which got overwhelming after awhile. Best for sharing.

What I liked: Purple yam purée with melon purée covering lychee boba topped with osmanthus, marshmallow and rose petal. Creative flavours with worked together to portray gastronomic feelings of spring with floral and fruity nuances.

What I didn't like: I don't care for the marshmallow and think they can do without it. Didn't like the pineapple money bag either because the pineapple filling was too sweet!

Side note: service could be better as there were issues with finding the reservation and there was a toddler whose screams were ear piercing and decibel levels so high that every time he screamed, people were visibly affected and shaken by it. He screamed at intervals of 5-15 mins and his parents did NOTHING about it. It wasn't long till I actually got a splitting headache from all that screaming that I was tempted to walk to his parents to say some bad things. I restrained myself and asked the staff to do something about it, perhaps distract the toddler by giving him a toy or something and was told that there was nothing they could do. Well, that certainly didn't impress and hopefully toddlers like these don't grace their premises often.
