Pullman Bakery’s famous Curry Hokkaido Bun!
Tried this without having much expectations for it but as I had my first mouth, oooo it was really something different!

The curry paste within was normal. The description said it was filled with potatoes, it should be mashed potatoes as the filling within was very paste-like.

The bun on the other hand was really yummy. The Hokkaido bun really makes a difference. The exterior although fried, did not taste very oily. But I only had a few bites of this bun so I’m not sure if it would actually be jelak towards finishing the bun!

Would definitely try other breads such as their yam bread the next time! ⁣

Pang’s Hakka Delicacies’s abacus seeds (算盘子). Self collection at Antoinette between 11am-2pm, we collected slightly before 2pm on Saturday and ordered through their WhatsApp few days before.

Not sure if it’s because it has been precooked and packed way beforehand but by the time we took our first try at 5pm without heating it, it was actually very hard. We didn’t like it very much, felt that there wasn’t much yam to it and the fried shallots were too little. Very disappointed due to the highly raved reviews, prolly won’t be getting it again.

Price: $9

The sesame filling was pretty generous and the filling to bun ratio was not too bad. The texture of the sesame filling was inclined towards grainy instead of paste-like.

If you prefer your filling to be more chewy, this bun might not be for you. But if you prefer a crunchy filling, you could give it a try! I guess I need to give this bun another try to have another taste of it before deciding if I’ll buy it often 🤣

The png kueh was good and it is one of the best I have tasted. The skin was very chewy and not like the usual harden skins you’d see at other stalls. Though the skin’s texture was good, if the skin were to be less thick, it would be perfect.⁣⁣⁣⁣

Jiu cai kueh on the other hand was not to my liking. The skin’s texture was good too but the filling was not to my liking and it was really salty too. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Also tried the ang ku kueh, the skin again was really soft and chewy, skin to filling ratio is acceptable but the filling was filled with too much sugar in my opinion. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Would definitely eat the png kueh again and would prolly try the soon kueh next time! Paid $3 for all of the above~ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Le Coq’s Spicy Salmon Don! I topped up $1 to change sushi rice to quinoa and it was definitely the right decision to do so. My dinner partner was so jealous of my quinoa (cus he didn’t change his) the entire dinner! ⁣

They were super generous with the salmon, I was literally left with chunks of salmon towards the end of my bowl. Freshness and the texture of the salmon was acceptable for this price (also because I had burpple beyond, it was 1-1!!!). ⁣

Would definitely go back again to try the other signatures on the menu esp the signature roasted chicken!⁣

This pita fill free sandwich is so good! The falafel was fried upon ordering and was very crispy. The sandwich was quite huge. I initially didn’t want to finish the bread. But as I took my first mouth, I already knew I’m gonna finish the entire sandwich, including the bread! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I think there was 5-6 falafels in the sandwich and it comes with the veggies and their sauces. We also ordered an additional side of hummus at $4 which was very fresh and yummy.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s my first time eating a pita sandwich, I’m definitely sold and can’t wait to be back for more already. Pita Bakery is also vegan!⁣⁣

Ordered the Soft Shell Crab Curry and the Salmon Madness. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I didn’t quite enjoy the Soft Shell Crab Curry as the entire dish was slightly to the salty side, from the curry to the crab. The dish however comes with cherry tomatoes and baby potatoes which helps the saltiness to a certain extend as they are all soaked in the curry already. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The Salmon Madness’ fish was not as tender as what I was expecting. I loved the seasoning on the veggies, but again the veggies were also not as soft as what I’d expect. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣

This was actually not bad! Were not having much expectations but the noodles were surprising not bad, I wiped the entire bowl all by myself. The noodles were not as soft as what other reviews were saying on Burpple, maybe they improved already! 🙊⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Also ordered the Tofu w/ Century Egg, it was actually a cold dish. The base of it was sesame, if you don’t like it, you might wanna avoid ordering this! ⁣⁣

We had both the Cheeseburger and Crabmeat paste at Rookery @ Capital Tower yesterday for our dinner.

The Cheeseburger came with a side of curly fries which was ok, nothing special, and a small serving of salad (which I did not try) and the burger which had a beef patty, some tomatoes, a slice of onion, some mushrooms and a slice of prolly bacon (not really sure what was it).

The beef patty was ok, texture was fine but definitely not juicy or rather had no juice at all. But it wasn’t tough so thank god! I enjoyed the bun though, nicely toasted with a hint of butter.

Crabmeat pasta’s base was sweet and I must admit I’m more of a chili person than sweet one so I’m definitely bias towards this plate of pasta already. Had very high expectations for this due to the overwhelmingly good reviews but imo it was just alright. It came with bits of crabmeat but the portion of cheese in the entire dish was just right. If you like your paste sweet, you may just love this dish.
