The Grasshopper Pie is outsourced from Windowsill Pies, which has produced many lovely pies but this just wasn't one of them. The chocolate was way too mild to complement the mint, which came through very strongly. :(
Pop by for a hot, melting sandwich of oozing cheese and slices of beefsteak sandwiched between crusty bread, and a serving of one of the best cheese fries (Torpedo Fries) around. Go for the vegetarian or chicken options if you're not a fan of beef, but don't miss out on the fries no matter what. Yellow Submarines is a good place for a fast, casual dinner with friends. *Halal-certified
If you're in the Suntec area, Sofra's is a great alternative lunch choice. Go for one of their reasonable set meals, or order a la carte and share a few of their generously portioned dishes. Start with the refreshing Sofra Salad - spiced vegetables with herbs and walnuts. Indulge in the Sultan Kebab, spiced lamb with baked cheese and mashed potato, or the Adana Kebab, a mix of beef and lamb mince cooked over fire. This is a great place for group outings too! *Halal-certified
Located behind the popular Simpang Bedok Food Centre, Badoque Cafe is a great place for a casual Western dinner with your friends. Known for their huge portions, get the Beef Ribs to share - tender, lip-smacking ribs you'll be glad you ordered. If you're feeling in the mood for some fish instead, go for the Mermaid's Tears. *Not Halal-certified, but Halal kitchen & suppliers
I feel that this is the best place for desserts! Especially love their combinations of sweet and salted. What's better is that it's halal!
And All Things Delicious is Tolido's Espresso Nook's newest neighbour, which offers a wide variety for halal-certified bakes such as Gula-Melaka Scones, Brownies and Galettes. The baker insists on using unprocessed ingredients such as unsalted butter organic ingredients so as to make their bakes taste more "natural" and it shows; clean yet flavourful treats indeed. They also share their shop space with Fictive Fingers that does pretty decent handprinted textile designs, if anyone is interested.
Formerly OZ Specialty Coffee, Pacamara has now opened at Upper Thompson, bringing their well-loved Pacamara blends alongside a sizeable menu of mains and cafe food. Expect great coffee, including more unique offerings like the Iced Thai Coffee. The menu includes burgers and mac & cheese, as well as brunch items like red velvet pancakes and truffle benedict. The miso-glazed salmon ($22) is highly recommended, as is the salted caramel brioche French toast ($16). This clean, bright cafe is a lovely space for spending some quiet time alone, or for a relaxing meal anytime.
