π½οΈ Char siew(BBQ pork) Rice @ Man Tang Hongkong Style Roasts $3.50
,πAt first glance, I was quite disappointed at how thinly sliced most of the char siew are. But when I bite into it, the charred flavour from the meat and sauce burst in my mouth! This is what a good plate of char siew should taste like. Eventhough the char siew is more to the lean side of the meat and for my plate, there's no fat at all. But the flavour wins it all.
It was a pleasant meal. I will be trying out their roast duck and roast pork next. I think they have a few outlets around Singapore too.
π½οΈ Coin Prata @ Al Madina- famous prata corner $4
This is my first time eating coin prata and just as my expection, it's just a coin shape plain prataπ . The one I had is even out of shape. I'm not sure what's the correct way of eating but mine was scattered with sugar and it makes it sweet even when I dunk it in curry sauce. I honestly feel that it's more worth it to order 4 plain prata for $4 instead of 6 coin prata for the same price.
π½οΈ BBQ Chicken and Fish Fillet @ Riverside Indonesian BBQ $8.50
π πThe Chicken Thigh is tender and the Dory fish fillet are cooked to crisp at the sides. Both proteins are doused with the Indonesian BBQ sauce, in my opinion it's just Kecap Manis(Indonesian sweet sauce), which is nice for the first few bites but I feel it gets too sweet towards the end.
π You have a option to add curry to your rice and I think you should! It balance out the sweetness of the BBQ sauce abit and also adds flavour to the rice.
πΆοΈπ³π₯ The chilli, and runny egg yolk together with the curry, forms the golden triangle of condiments. Mixed them all up together and you have flavour explosion every mouthful. Haha. Ok I exaggerated but they do go well together. The cabbage plays the role of clearing your palate in-between the heavy sauces.
Overall, it's a satisfying meal but will only eat it maybe once or twice a year as the sauces and seasoning are really heavy. I believe the meal already provided the sugar and sodium consumption for the month π
π½οΈ Surf & Turf @bigfishsmallfishsg bugis branch $22.13(10%service charge+7%GST)
π The fish batter is crispy and the fish is fresh. A decent British style battered fried fish.
π The chicken is a little oily on the underside. I'm not sure if it's the oil from the crisps or oil from the chicken. In the picture it looks crispy but in fact it's not crispy but chewy. The meat itself is ok. Not juicy nor dry. But the oil threw me off a little.
π½ The butter corn is not as fragrant as those you would get from Pasta Malam cup corn. The butter taste is faint.
π₯ Their crisps are getting thinner by the yearsπ same oily issue like the cutlet.
Conclusion from this visit, stick to their fish. Don't be like me, ordering chicken in a fish speciality shopπ .
π½οΈ Roast Duck Rice @ Kam Wah Roasted Delights $4
The location above is the correct one but the canteen has changed ownership since and upgraded to a seafood restaurant and new stores. One of the new stores is Kam Wah Roasted Delights. I'm not sure if it is related to Kam Wah restaurant though.
π¦Their Roast duck are the crispy skin type with lean meat. I do prefer my roast duck to have a layer of fat beneath it. The roast is good and the Dang Gui Sauce on the side is nice too. A decent meal. Will check out their other roast meats soon.
π½οΈ Fried Bee Hoon $2.80
I believe this is a typical breakfast for most Singaporeans. I personally prefer white beehoon cos I like the aroma from the egg. Do you prefer black beehoon or white beehoon? What other combinations do you go for?
π½οΈ Lor Mee @xmxlormee (Tampines) $5
π This is the branch of the famous old airport road lor Mee. It includes, 1 whole braised egg, generous portions of braise pork, pork belly, shredded fish, bean sprouts and parsley. Chilli and minced garlic is a must. Unfortunately there's no chopped chilli to go with(personal preference). The fish is fresh and firm. I love the texture. I believe it's batang fish. The pork is nicely braised. The pork belly is sliced a little too thin in my opinion, it's almost as thin as the noddles.
Besides the same ingredient used, is there any difference you may ask. I must say the atmosphere and somehow it's missing the old school taste of the original store. Maybe this branch is too nicely renovated and clean. It lacks the rusticness of the original store. Nevertheless, it is still a good bowl of Lor Mee.
π½οΈ Green Pepper Chongqing Grilled Fish @whatthefishsg (Tampines Mall) @8.80 + $0.70 for bean curd skin(side dish)
π΅ I ordered their signature dish since I'm visiting for the first time. The broth is very appetising with a little spicy and numbing sensation. You can easily down 2 bowls of rice with the broth alone. I was unable to finish the soup as I got taste fatigue due to all the numbness. π
. Nevertheless, the broth is really good.
π I chose limbo fish and it's tender but more to the soft side since it's from the catfish family. Think Dory fish. You can hardly taste the fish as the broth overpowers it. I will order the sea bass for the next visit.
Definitely worth the money for a satisfying dinner easy on your pocket.
π½οΈ Oyako Don @ekibensg $5
π The egg is silky and the chicken is tender and well cooked. The rice is soaked in the right amount of dashi. It's an enjoyable meal.

π½οΈ Beef Bresaola Pizza @planksourdoughpizza
I wanted to make a pizza pun joke but I decide not to cos it will be too cheesy! π Let's move on to the review.
π BEEF Bresaola Pizza is the pizza for only the month of December. So by the time you see this post, you only have few hours to get it.π The mustard cream is a great surprise.
I think the most important aspect of the pizza is that their sourdough are light and chewy so you can eat many slices compared to the pizza from pizza chains.
π½οΈ Pepperoni Pizza @planksourdoughpizza
I wanted to make a pizza pun joke but I decide not to cos it will be too cheesy! π Let's move on to the reviews.
π Pepperoni pizza is the go to if you want good old pizza without too complicated toppings. The saltiness of the pepperoni is on point.

π½οΈ Mushroom Truffle Pizza @planksourdoughpizza
I wanted to make a pizza pun joke but I decide not to cos it will be too cheesy! π Let's move on to the reviews.
π Mushroom Truffle Pizza has the right amount of truffle smell and taste on it. It's not too overpowering and mushroom are flavourful.
