Had the Samgepsal (pork + rice + soup + lettuce) set ($18++) for lunch and it was amazing 🤩 it’s super crowded during lunch but that kinda adds to the homely, hearty vibes of the restaurant and together with the flavours of the rice, soup and pork, it felt like I was having a warm, homecooked meal in the heart of an office area. Will be back to try other items on their menu 😍

Had the mixed (matcha + vanilla) ice cream cone at Taka basement after walking around orchard road for the afternoon. The flavours blended nicely, though I think I prefer the vanilla to the matcha.

Came here for dessert after eating Thai food for dinner next door, and this was much needed to cool down the spiciness from dinner! I had the salted butterscotch while my partner had the hazelnut, and with burpple’s 1 for 1, the total bill was $5 (had to add $1 for premium flavour for hazelnut). Would come back again if I’m in the area for a nice treat!

Met a friend here for lunch & I had the signature beef pho (in photo) while she had the vege pho. We used the 30% off bill on burpple, which reduced the price of each bowl to about $10++, which is quite worth it for the quality and portion.

My partner and I ordered the signature wagyu bowls with
1. Mentaiko sauce ($23.9++)
2. Yuzu foie gras ($28.8++)

The beef was cooked just nice and had a charred taste to it which I like, plus the foie gras added umami to the whole dish. Would come back again to try the burpple set next time.

Being a somewhat unagi-lover, the Hitsumabushi (medium) at Man Man checked all the boxes! Just a right size for 1 pax, and I really love the authenticity of the wasabi served here - you have to grate it yourself and though it’s not as spicy and flavourful as the usual wasabi we are used to being served in other restaurants / supermarkets.

Went for the 3 course lunch set meal ($26.8++), which included a soup (tomato / chowder), main (pasta / pizza), dessert (chef’s recommendation) and drink (coke / sprite / soda). Had the chowder, seafood pasta, apple crumble w ice cream (topped up $5 to change the dessert) & sprite.

The service was really slow, and my group of 8 friends had to wait almost an hour for the food to arrive (they even forgot one of my friend’s orders), and the food is alright only. I wouldn’t pay so much for this quality next time. The only saving grace was the apple crumble which had a nice balance of sweet and savoury, and the fact that this restaurant is pet friendly, so my friend could bring his dog here.

Tried the Teriyaki Sando ($15+) + add-on tater tots ($5+) & a cup of white ($5.5+) here. The Sando was delicious - I especially like the toasted milk bread and it was not too oily. The tater tots were small in my opinion and not much for the price. The coffee tasted more milky than a typical latte would taste like. Overall a decent meal.

Love the bak Chor mee ($4) here! I always order the kway Teow and 3 sauces (chilli, vinegar, ketchup) combi 🍜

Went to Five Oars at East Coast for brunch today & ordered the Salmon Royale ($24++) & a 6oz white ($5++). I must say that I was particularly surprised at how delicious the Salmon Royale tasted - the addition of sour pickled onions complemented the salmon, the crème fraîche’s consistency was light and just right, and to top it off, I liked how the multigrain bread had some nuts, which added texture to the dish. The avocado and scrambled eggs were decent, nothing fantastic. A suggestion I have is to replace the current veggie with rocket leaves, as I think it would add another layer of flavour to the dish. The coffee was alright too, not the best I’ve tasted.

Went for the Australia Wagyu Buffet ($69.80++) for dinner with my partner & it was AMAZING 🤤 drinks are not included so we got the $1 free flow green tea as well (we really liked the tea because tastes like green + rice tea). They have a 90min eating time, which is sufficient if you are not a huge eater. We ate until we were super full and had one cup of complimentary ice cream at the end (can choose from chocolate, vanilla, matcha and mango), which was a lovely icing on top of the cake! 🥩🍨🍵

First time at Hopscotch! My friend and I decided to give it a try after getting burpple. We shared the fish & chips and the XO sticky back ribs. The ribs were flavourful and slid off quite well from the bones, though it would be nicer with more sauce. Both dishes were quite dry and were not hot / warm when served, which made the whole eating experience not so ideal. Overall, the ambience is nice - we sat outdoors where there was a nice breeze.
