We wanted to redeem the 1-for-1 all-star combo deal but were told of an “in-house policy” that 3 diners had to order an additional main course. As we had come all the way here for this restaurant, we accepted this additional term. The food was overall satisfactory but the experience ruined by this issue. This is one of the examples of unseen conditions that Burpple users have raised in reviews of many other establishments, and perhaps one of the reasons we would think hard about whether to renew our Burpple membership once it expires. If Burpple does not rebalance its protection of customer vs restaurant-owner interest, membership may decline in the long run.

Third time to Eventasty, they are tucked in a corner of Funan but have survived the worst. Their noodles stand out for an interesting soup base, and well cooked beef (shank) and pork (ribs). Only complaint is that the initial prices before 1-for-1 are rather steep (~13.90), doubtful if I would fork that amount for dinner given the many options in the Funan basement for less.

We got the 1-for-1 Pastry + Coffee set - pastry was limited to the croissants and selected pastries. Note there is also dine-in / service charge (10%). Overall pleasant experience, we came in the late afternoon where there was nobody.

1 for 1 pasta at Fortune Centre. Choose your own pasta (4 selections). Note the 1-for-1 only applies to Tasting Portion, although there is a rule to top up if you want Full portion (pay F + (F - T), where F = full portion price and T is tasting price). Generally, no bad comments, we got 2F and 2T, worked out to $10/pax. Would not mind coming again if in the area.

Visited with a good friend after nearby lunch and we had no regrets. We had the 1 for 1 - Salted Honey, and Drifting Snowflakes Jasmine ($5) as well as a free scoop. There is an additional scoop as we successfully guessed the ingredients of the mystery flavour (“???”). The staff are helpful and kind, not rushing customers to close the deal despite the long queue. The crowd size at 11pm bodes well for the young cafe. No negative comments, only that the acoustics of the place are bad - it can get hard to talk across the echoing voices when the place is full.

This outlet of L’Eclair Patisserie is a short walk from Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station, and makes for a quiet place to catch up over afternoon tea.

Relatively new cafe in an obscure part of Waterloo. We got the cake/drink set for two ($18). Generally no regrets, but the price tag may be a little on the hefty side for some. Not entirely attractive as compared to the other 1-for-1 deals.

The view out the cafe is unfortunately obstructed by some construction boards that have been in Waterloo Centre for the longest time.
