Mincheng Bibimbap, an authentic Chinese Korean ethnic cuisine from Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, China, has made its mark in Singapore since March 2024, with over 400 outlets worldwide. Offering delicious and affordable food ranging from $6.80 to $12.80, it's a treat for those in the CBD area.
Here's what we tried:
Beef Bibimbap ($9.80)
Fragrant steamed rice topped with mushroom, carrot, cucumber, corn, seaweed, sliced beef, spinach, and a sunny-side-up egg, all served in a very hot stone pot. Pour in the gochujang sauce and mix it up while the rice crackles in the stone pot. I loved how the rice turned crunchy without getting charred, and the pot kept everything warm for a long time. The rice was flavourful and didn’t stick to the pot either.
Hot Plate BBQ Beef ($12.80)
The sizzling sound alone makes this dish even more appealing. Sweet, savoury, and succulent sliced beef cooked with lots of onions and sprinkled with sesame seeds, all on a hot plate. It’s a bit oily, but that’s part of its charm.
Hot Plate Squid ($11.80)
One of the best squid dishes I’ve had—soft, tender, and easy to chew. The bite-sized squid is cooked with plenty of onions and drenched in a savoury, spicy sauce, served sizzling hot. Absolutely delightful!
Hot Plate Fish ($11.80)
Firm, meaty pollack fish, without head, covered in a heavy, savoury sauce with various spices. The sauce is the key to the overall flavour profile of this dish. Very nice to eat with rice too.
Seafood Tofu Soup ($8.80)
A comforting, heartwarming soup with soft silky tofu, eggs, shrimps and clams. It’s savoury with a slight spiciness, making it a pleasing choice for most palates.
Best Part! All mains come with free-flowing steamy hot rice, savoury-tangy kimchi, and slightly bland seaweed soup.
Pair your meal with Korean Grape or Korean Pear ($2.50 each) for the best experience.
