rly enjoyed having the hefty slices of fresh salmon topped with torched umami-packed mentaiko sauce. the tamago was mildly sweet, & perfectly cut! as a non-fan of anything pea like, the edamame surprised me & had a good bite to it. a pity tho, the rice - an equally important component of the dish wasn’t right. it lacked the distinct fragrance, was a little soft for my liking & i also couldn’t taste the sushi vinegar in the rice (in summary 没有粒粒饭香). a point to note was that the rice was topped with furikake - perhaps to add flavour.
i’d imagine a good don would be where the fish and rice complements each other and would blend together, however i felt like they didn’t blend well here. nonetheless, it’s a decent bowl at a good price with room for improvement!
