Gyoza-Ya has always been a place that my friends and I look forward to visiting to whenever we are clueless on what to eat at Orchard, and even after new outlets opening at both Paragon and ION Orchard, the Robinsons Heeren outlet is one that we would go to for a peaceful hideout — a place with low human traffic that's much conducive to eat at. Tried a good variety of Gyoza there, and this Yaki Mentaiko Miso Gyoza is an absolute must order every time — the skin here is never too thick nor too thin, and the pan-frying makes the undersides pretty crusty which gives it a good texture. Inside the Gyoza, chunky bits of meat gives it the bite with a good meatiness in flavour, while drenched in a flame-torched layer of Mentaiko sauce for a umami touch with bits of cod roe to nibble on — one could actually hear the popping sounds of the cod roes as they blowtorch the Gyoza just before serving. Definitely the item that is a must-try for those who love Gyoza and Mentaiko lovers alike.
